Thinking about how low a shutter speed I could use while I was shooting this sunset without a tripod I decided to give it a test. Since the NX10 has no mirror I was expecting decent results

Whole scene

100% crops from near center

Result - I think I can useable image hand hold this camera down to 1/20th, thats slightly less than half the effective focal length, and while not perfect - I'm impressed. At 1/10th things get shaky but I decided to try 1/5th using the burst mode and approx 1 in 3 was usable, which is great (if alittle unreliable)

-------------------------------------

As an aside I'm also impressed with the 30mm f2 lens with no difference in sharpness that I can see on stopping down - excellent - even in the corners at f2 - they actually look worse at f4 but I can't call this definitive because of the shutterspeed - I also won't comment on vignetting because of the changing light and i'm not sure if I was changing in 1/2 or 1/3 stops - but it seems to be very very minimal

These are crops from the top right corner

files are all "superfine" JPEGS from camera run through lightroom with no sharpening or NR applied

Stay tuned for more tests :)

Once you get into this area, I think having an EFV becomes a real benefit as you get extra stabilisation by holding the camera to you face.

wow - I'm a 12 year SLR user, and know that very well - but it didn't even occur to me

I guess the screen on the back is just too seductive - I'll have to do a re-test some time
