Have you bought used from b&h, any good ?

I just bought a 10-22mm that was rated a 9, and I must say their rating system is very accurate. I would definitely buy used from them again. I probably wouldn't buy anything less than a 9 though.

last aug. I purchased a 70-200 f4 from them just for the races in pa. I wanted a lighter lense for the pitts. my 2.8 with I/S was too heavy ... it was perfect in every way .. sold it after the races .. again it was marked a 9 .. I would of given it a 10 ....... I would not be afraid to buy again ... last month I did buy a new 70-200 f4 with I/S .... enjoy

I bought a 28-300 IS USM from them marked 9+ and it was. Save a few hundred off a new one and only thing missing was the box.

All that being said... Their online store seems to be down 3 days out of the week...

Odd.

I'll agree with what others have said, 9 level equipment is generally almost as good as new. I have picked up a body or 2 and been very happy.

As for their hours, my understanding is that the owner is of Hasidic Jewish faith and their hours and days of operation are based on their beliefs. I have found if easy enough to work within their schedule.

BTW, are you asking because you are eyeballing the used 1200mm they have available. :D

No, a 50 f1.4 USM, but somebody must have bought it as soon as they opened back up tonight.

I was eying the 24-70 f2.8 myself. That was gone quickly as well. Better for me, because I really shouldn't be spending the money anyway.

I am surprised they had a 50mm f1.4 on there. Those lenses rarely get sold once someone buys them. I never see them used.

30+ holidays! That's like more than 3 times what I get.

With both B&H and Adorama observing Jewish holidays, I sometimes wish there were retailers of a different or more secular persuasion who competed with them (most other retailers I know of are not price and/or quality competitive with those two).

That way, one could get photographic equipment without having to wait in such scenarios.

The store closings, including Saturdays, are very clearly indicated on their website. They are closed for Jewish holidays - not 3 days out of every week.

B&H is the most respected & recommended camera store in the US.

LOL. It is kinda funny to walk through a crowded mall food court on a Sunday and the only place not open is Chick-fil-a.

Thank you. It is not our intention to inconvenience anyone and we regret if our schedule does so. Our owner is an orthodox Sabbath-observant Hasidic Jewish gentleman and his belief is that Sabbath observance (and observance of other holidays with Sabbath-like rules) prevents us from accepting paid orders via our website on those days.

I meant no disrespect... I clearly love the company, I am just bummed when I can't buy on impulse :)
