I bought a twin kit from DigitalRev last week. Payment was confirmed and delivery within five days.

I was so excited I thought I would contact them on day five just to see if maybe it would arrive that day.

Instead I was told it had sold out and would I like to take something else (even though 3 in stock when I purchased and two left three days later).

When I read stories like this I think "Oh well" - but hitting that "buy" button took many months of trials and tribulations for me to commit to - Oh Well.

Are you familiar with DigitalRev's reputation? (I have no idea what their reputation is; I'm just asking.) Not all online vendors are created equal. Before buying, it's a good idea to check out the seller at resellerratings.com.

I live in Whistler, BC, near Vancouver. I order online from Adorama and usually receive my order within 24 hours via UPS. Great service. I call and speak to a salesperson so that l have a contact should anything go wrong. For me, they are just the best.
 
Alisande has a very good point. Check with that online rating service first. I use B&H in New York City. Very high rating at that site and in terms of personal experience they've never failed me in any way, ever. Superb service and pricing.
 
Hi Adam,

Would you mind telling me how much duty and more importantly UPS customs related charges do you have to pay to already very high shipping charges. Shipping cost on Panasonic camera I looked at was more than 20% of the value.

Hi Susan,

Yes, they have a 98% positive rating. Being stuck out in New Zealand it is easy to feel that they chose not to ship here as they have free shipping and based in Hong Kong many much closer customers. I can't believe their qty could still show 2 left two days after my payment had confirmed and not actually have any.

Oh well.

Not only is their rating very low but they seem to spend a lot of time defending themselves against the poor comments. While on one hand it would seem that they care about the unhappy comments, it would also seem that there might ought to be fewer such comments in the first place.

Buying from such a company might be likened to choosing a person to have a relationship because they've been so good at apologizing when they've been caught cheating in the past.

Do you mean:
Duty brokerage and shipping = $30.00 only?

I was quoted $ 61.00 shipping only.

Ups brokerage $35.00 minimum. Plus applicable duty and sales tax on top of it approximately xxx?

This makes the purchase rather expensive.
