At last, after a couple of months reading this forum, I decided to order the HS10 which was delivered yesterday.
Yes, obviously, it’s not a DSLR. But hey, I wasn’t looking for one.
So all you people who compare the HS10 with a DSLR stop the noise…
If you want to compare, compare with another bridgecamera.
Sure, the HS10 has its cons, but so do other camera’s.

That said… One of the main reasons for me to buy the HS10 was the zooooom range. I love to take pictures of landscapes and buildings when I’m on a holiday or trip.

After 7 years with a “simple” Minolta Dimage F300 I must say I am happy as a child.

But… I’m a layman when it comes to photograpy. I must say, for the moment (after only 1 day) I let the camera do all the work automatically. I am most satisfied with the results although I can’t compete with some of the pics I’ve seen here so far.

I just hope that finally the positives will remain on this forum and the negatives expire. So all you happy HS10 owners, keep posting, keep spreading the news, I love it. All those who returned the camera, good for you, after all you were probably not the type of customer Fujifilm had in mind when bringing the camera on the market…

Why censor any legitimate comparison? And why patronize those many who have asked "what should I get?" by characterizing all of it as "noise?"

Yes, and there is much debate as to how well that zoom range delivers at long distance. No issue with close ups, it's fantastic.

Laying off that one.

Which again raises the question as to why you would characterize legitimate discussion in one specific area that is obviously outside of your expertise as "noise?"

Because there is nothing like a "balanced" discussion to help others make their choice.

Why not just tell us what you like and not presume to tell us what we can discuss?

How do you know what Fuji had in mind when they brought this camera to market?

And why even make a patronizing comment to all those who legitimately made the decision to return a camera after testing it? Some of them (not all of them, but many) have a lot of experience and know what they are seeing when they look at its output. Some are ok with it, some are not. Depends on tolerance levels for certain artifacts, experience and ability to even see certain issues, and prevailing subject matter. Close up people, for example, love this camera at full zoom.

And are you aware that the average quality of images on this forum has dropped rather dramatically since the arrival of the HS10? That camera cannot hold highlghts nearly as well as the cameras it replaced.

It's a terrific camera in many ways. It also has serious issues that require skills to avoid or compensate for. Removing what you consider negative discourse only leaves the attaboys and that leads to mediocrity.

It is almost exclusively HS10 owners who claim that this camera is an SLR. So they should stop the noise.

all the best with your new cam and don't let the "shut up you don't know what you are talking about I do!!" stuff from self appoined officianados who lurk here sans any HS10 of their own, hinder your joy in your camera .
Looking forward to pics you post !

shoot away ..Its not a contest to attempt to best someones ideeeeeeer of what is mediocre or not ..sheesh
lol

I hate to agree with him but he is right and I’m infected with the HS10 virus lol we have to tolerate all sorts of criticism only than we can improve and enjoy the full potential of this camera. If we are lucky Fuji will may pick up on one or the other issue and improve it in the next firmware update. But for sure it is a camera you can enjoy already so have fun.

Welcome 5ven. Belgian? Where from? I am ex-Belgian living in Australia now for almost 13 years. Well I am Australian now.

The Leader is good, the Leader is great, we surrender our will as of this date!

So much for useful discourse about how to make or do things better with the camera by constructively discussing its shortcomings :(

Hello

Congratulations for the option, I have my HS10 for 1 week and little and I notice that as you use and learn will be getting better results.

I think the bridge is more complete than the market and all have flaws.

Oh the irony. The only person in this thread that has so far that played the "shut up" card was the OP when he wrote "I just hope that finally the positives will remain on this forum and the negatives expire." Many of the critical posts come from those that do own the HS10, but even those that don't can find enough information in this forum and from some of the early reviews to be able to have an accurate opinion about the HS10, and they are free to engage in discussions about the camera even if you would prefer to limit HS10 threads to happy talk. Your trollish fanboyism is getting more extreme with time. Why not just talk about what you like about the HS10 instead. Or post photos. If some of them are high quality images so much the better. If the IQ isn't amazing but the photos are interesting, that would be good too.

Looking forward to pics you post !

You embarrass yourself when you write with such childish abandon, winning no converts to your ultra-biased POV from anyone with an open mind or the ability to see through your empty rhetoric.

Hi: Good luck with the camera.

I could not believe the difference between the 24mm and my 28mm lens...and the 720mm is just unreal...
cheers,
Smitty

Join the HS10 club...you won't regret it.
Your shots and those of other gifted photgraphers who are pulling good stuff from this Fuji are a rather powerful arguement for your statement!!

Congrat's, 5ven...!

Enjoy your camera and lets see some pic's...! :)
