Dear all,
I am not an expert in retouching...this photograph was taken the way you see it.

I know there are many great masters around and I would appreciate some suggestions on how to make it more powerful.

Thanks a lot!
Alex

This is a wonderful picture. I think adding a bit more space on the right is suitable. I've also increased light on her, but this seems scrictly optional as it is perfectly ok the way you have it. Just my 2 cents. Cheers !

That is pretty close to perfection, as is.
Great pose, lighting and composition.

What is your goal?
Is this for an advertisement, glamour or something artsy to sell as a print?

or maybe just a piece for your portfolio?

If you post a larger image we can play with it to show you some artistic interpretations.

I think you did a wonderful job with a beautiful model... HArd to find a fault with the picture taking ! Except i just darkened a bit the BG and added a layer of a little light dodging on the gorgeous face... The image is too small to do a lot with it, but if you are looking for like a painting effect or some other tecnique then you may want to post a bigger picture.... Here is what i did just to give you some ideas... maybe a bit too much because my monitor at this location is not too well calibrated but y ou can always adjust on your side.... WHAT type of effects did you have in mind? the possibilities are endless and with a large pic maybe in RAW I am sure a lot of versions can be had ! Be well and thank you for brightening a day.... MAYBE SHE WOULD LOOK even better in a RED FERRARI ? :)

:D Grazie, Thank you, - Sal

Beautiful shot.

I'm fond of the use of a soft/glow filter effect myself, which can be achieved by using a Gaussian Blur with a fairly large radius and fading the result back, using either Normal mode mixing, Screen mode mixing, or both. Do a little less of it on her face so it remains striking and the center of attention.

Select just her skin and use noise reduction to make it look smoother.

What woman doesn't want more bust? Use the Liquify filter to enhance her there a bit.

Finally, I added a small sparkle in her eye via one of my own plugins.

You don't need to do much to it, because the shot is pretty much perfect. Just add some more contrast and sharpness, and it's done:

There is absolutely no need for some funky star glowing eyes - leave that stuff to kindergarten photos.

Exactly. :) Thank you for understanding, Lyle.

It was clear the OP wanted more in his image than what he had.

Leave it the heck alone !

You might play with framing it differently - you already siad you had the space in the original.

Apart from that I would not alter a thing - even the colour balance looks good.

Excellent shot.

What can I say? Some of us have style and some of us have absolutely no need for it. :)

-Noel
Each style has its own place. Last time I looked this picture is not from a kid's birthday party, nor for some cheesy web site.

Dear all - THANK YOU very much for suggestions. How big should the picture be for you to have some artistic go at it? Let me know and I will upload a bigger one.

I wanted to go the artistic way....not so sure about the beauty, more the art:-)

This is a bit over-sharpened and pixelated due to the small file size but you get the idea.

As others have said, it is not really necessary but you did ask for some suggestions so I thought I would give it a crack.

Just tried to highlight the contrast of colour and shadow and added a painterly feel to it which is why she is a bit over saturated as well.

Anyway, hope you like it.

Cheers
Allan
