Sorry if this has been covered, but I am getting frustrated with both Canon and Apple as no one has been able to help me.

When I insert the EOS digital solutions disk into my mac and try and install the software, immediately a message tells me that I do not have Administrator rights and that I need to log in as administrator to install software. I am the person who paid for the computer and I definently have administrator privileges, and am logged in on the only account that has any privileges!

Has anyone encountered this problem?

I had a problem installing the update for DPP for my Mac, but not the original software from disk. It turned out that the updater was not compatible with a case sensitive file system. Macs are shipped with the file system set to case insensitive so it's something you or previous owner would had to have knowingly changed. If it is this then the best thing to do is reset the file system to case insensitive which unfortunately means reloading the OS. But it would be worth doing because AFAIUI there are other applications which won't install on case sensitive fs.

Good luck, hope this helps

Bill

No, it doesn't even give me the option, just flat out says you don't have administrator privileges.

I've had this problem before with pocketmac for blackberry, I'm starting to think its apples way of trying to get me to buy their products.

But none of that matters if you specified case sensitive formatting. Photoshop won't install either, on a case-sensitive drive.

I just checked the EOS Digital solutions disk in disk utility, and it came up that the disk is corrupt, I guess I got a lemon. I will have to get another one and see if that is the issue.
