I had a beautiful weekend with friends in cabins on a beach in Devon, a friends 40th birthday celebration, I took my M9 and a 50 a 90 and 35 lens. The results show that a quiet discrete camera can be a huge advantage in certain situations, no one was annoyed by me quietly snapping and now my friends are very pleased they and I have a record of the event. The lens are not coded and I forgot to change the settings in menu so the exif shows a 50mm on all shots.

Great candid shots.
I totally agree... these are all a wonderful record of your fun with friends. I hate the typically cheesy posed shots most people want to take, and here you've done what I love... capturing the moments and the mood . I feel like I'm there!

Thank you everyone, it is great to find out that there are more people than just me who like this kind of photography, it is part of the reason I saved and bought the M9 and then trawled around to find good used lenses.

It's true that life is made of these mundane but extremely valuable moments and there is very little record of these events depicting a true record of what happened, perhaps because this type of images are personal moments and relate in the strongest way to the people involved in the original event, or perhaps it is that a lot of people pass through those moments and they are not recorded because they are thought to be too ordinary?

I find it takes time to get these images, people need to relax and forget there is a camera around and stop putting on the poses for this discrete photography to be possible. I find the M helps a little with that because of it's size and quietness.
Thank you again.

I agree with the previous posters - these are relaxed, candid, interesting, and they generate a certain curiosity as to what was happening as it is not immediately obvious. I think you have managed to achieve "street" on a beach in Devon. That takes some doing!

all the best,
Carl
(from some where a little further south than that beach in Devon)
