Love these, Dez. Just love them. All of your posts like this. Hope you will put them in a book someday.

Hi,

Not only is this a great series, but wonderful imagination to embark on the series in the first place. I have to say that in the first set, NYC, I prefer the older skyline to the newer one.

I assume that you sourced the historical images from archives, postcards and old images you acquired.

Great, innovativeer series, thanks for posting.

Yes, Dez, this is very innovative. No one has every done this before. You will NOT find anything like this in the New York City library. You will be the first one to publish a book and copyright this idea of Then and Now.

Your series is really interesting even for a foreigner. Probably the most interesting to people from NY.

Well I think if you add some curious/funny/weird stories about some of the locations this might become a nice book to sell.

Hi,

Very interesting series. You are right, not much changed. But stiil can see some progress. At least in cars and cameras :). Enjoyed looking at them.

You are on a winner with this work Dez, it would be really interesting to know how the buildings have gone through change of useage over the years.

The Plaza Hotel is a beautiful building, somewhat lost today amongst the modern rectangular blocks.

Great series.

Your slideshow is superb, thanks for the link

I came up with the idea when looking at some very old photos and noticing that I had shot the exact location from the same perspective. So I decided to go on a treasure hunt for more old photos.........and than it just snowballed to what it is now.

The idea isn't new and has been done in other cities as well as NYC.

Most of the original photos are either from the NY Public Library or the Library of Congress.
