There's one more annoying thing about it -- it was shot with my brand new Canon G1 (my first good digicam!).

Anyway, having known little about photography at the time (and not much more now), it was no doubt shot in P-mode without flash and auto white balance. I did know enough to hold still (probably 1/20 sec shutter speed on this one), but not enough to bring a tripod!
On a subsequent trip, I did bring a tripod, but it was a pain in the a*s to get the angle and position I wanted to get!
Also, this was shot on January 2, 2001 -- winter, and probably at about 9:00 AM. The next shots were in summer. The lighting is substantially different in the different seasons and different times of day. I think most photo the canyon in summer, since in the upper canyon (that's the one you see most the pics of, not the lower canyon that this is from), you get light beams coming down from the high crevace. The lower canyon is much longer, but much more narrow as well. However, I like the lower a lot better!
