I am going to Hong Kong to see my girlfriend but my G9 is too bulky to be bothered taking, and obviously i want to take lots of photos and videos of her.

I am after a ultra thin camera like the Sony TX1 or the Casio Exilim E12. Something that will fit into my shirt pocket easy and I can take it everywhere. I want a camera that takes quality photos and HD video...but is still thin...like Sony's TX7. Basically the best camera in a thin body.

Any ideas for a high quality, THIN camera?

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

the sony tx7. a hair thicker than the tx1, but much better!

Happy Shooting!

Thanks Joseph. That's was what I was thinking. I do like the sleek design of the TX1 though.

I will get the Sony TX7 unless someone gives me some better options. I know Canon also make small, thin cameras but I don't know enough about them.

If there are any others, please let me know.
Thanks

Agreed with the TX7 - pretty solid camera with nice features for a slimliner.

Or also look at the TX5 - very similar to the TX7, a little smaller, and adds waterproofing, coldproofing, and shockproofing. Same hand-held twilight, sweep panorama, anti-motionblur, and in-camera HDR modes. Video is not quite as good as TX7, but still good and still HD.

also on a side note, the tx7 probably has the fastest focusing speeds I've even seen on a point and shoot camera. darn near instant even in semi-low light.

Thanks guys.

The TX5 is thicker isn't it? I thought about it but it looked a little bulky compared to the TX1 they had in the shops.

I would love the S90 Jack, I almost bought one...but its too thick for my purpose.

How does the Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS/IXUS 130 compare? I know the video isn't as good as Sony's TX7 but its still pretty good. And its small

According to measurements, the TX5 is smaller than the TX7,a nd nearly spot-on every dimension with the TX1. The TX7 is the one that is actually a bit bigger than the TX1.

the sd1400 is junk. too small a body and too many pixels. also die to the physical camera size, the focus light for indoor or low light shooting is also small and usually results in very soft or unfocused shots. i had the 780 for about three days and returned it. I do have the canon sd1200 though and that camera is amazing for a basic point and shoot. if you don't need all the features, then this camera is awesome...you can exposure lock so that will get you many more pictures out of the battery than it is rated for. it rates at about 260 pictures but i can frequently squeeze over 450 per charge. and it is discontinued, but they can be found....129.99 to 149.99.

Happy Shooting!

Thanks Zack. I will have to look at the TX5 again.

Thanks for the information Joseph.
Is the Sony best for photo quality and movie quality?

Have you actually used the sd1400? It's not any smaller than the sd1400 either, as far as I can tell, might be slightly bigger.

I also owned an returned an sd780 and returned it. I was very unimpressed (I went the opposite direction after that and got an s90). However, the sd940 that came after it had exactly the same size but noteably better pictures, based on numerous different review shots.

I'm afraid I don't personally know anything about the sd1400, or any of the Sony's. The thing I do like about the tx7 is that it seems to get good reviews for it's white balance, and shutter lag seems to be pretty short.
