okay let me have it...

HS10

1. are unlimited continuous mode will be added (till card is full, speed depends only by card speed)?
2. are writing speed camera to card is only 5 mb/s even for class 10 card ?
3. are planned add support for sdxc cards ?
4. may we hope to AF speed improvements ?

5. are video quality will be improved (current 13mbit/s is acceptable only as 720p, not for 1080p)
6. what about clicking sound of diafragm change in videos ?

7. need to allow remapping of buttons , for quick access needed functions (for example IS switching issue)
Nothing I know of for firmware upgrades but I will ask.

Anyways I am sure I will hear it from everyone... but I am committed to come on as much as I can to help with any issues or answer any specific questions.
Hi Paul

I own the HS10

There is an issue with RAF files for some people -when the camera is zoomed from 200mm -720mm, a yellow rectangular artefact appears at the top of the RAF -especially visible in skies but it is there at all times . It is not there are in shots taken at the wide end

When the artefact appears in the RAF, the embedded jpeg does not have the artefact.

When the shot is RAF +jpeg the band appears in the RAF but not the jpeg or embedded jpeg

There is no artefact in burst mode RAFs

The RAF aretefact is only visible in properly reading the file in silkypix - reading the file in faststone only looks at the embedded jpeg and therefore is not visble. When the RAF with aretfact is developed in silkypix , the resultant jpeg has the artefact.

I have so far not been able to get fuji support to see the band as they are obviously not viewing the RAF in silkypix.

also using silkypix developer pro beta optimised for use with the HS10 also shows the artefact

hope you can help
alison
I will ask.

Paul

Thanks for joining us

I am a long time Fujifilm loyal customer my current cam is an S9100 and I need a new cam. I was really hoping that Fujifilm would offer a 4/3 cam maybe even a unique 4/3 bridge. Fujifilm does not offer me a "better" camera to move to. At this point I will have to look at other vendors. Sure The HS10 is packed with features and I would love to have one for the fun of it but if I am going to replace my S9100 it will not be with an HS10

Any reason to wait?

depends on what you want in a camera...I had another Fuji lover with an S9100 who loves the HS10.

I've been disappointed by the HS10 video as well.

1. Data-rate and Quality:

I compared the data-rate of the HS10 video shot @ 720p vs. my Canon SD780 @ 720p - The HS10 records 29.97fps, with stereo sound @ 10.66 Mbit/sec where as my Canon records 30fps, with mono sound @ 23.9 Mbit/sec.

That's the opposite of what I expected. I was hoping the HS10 data rate to be higher, especially since it uses 48KHz stereo audio vs the Canon which uses 44KHz mono.

Both use the H.264 video codec, but it seems like the HS10 video is heavily compressed; and I definitely noticed the video to be of lower quality than the Canon SD780.

I wish the video quality (NOT size) could be adjusted like the Fine picture quality settings

2. Zooming during video is extremely difficult and shaky.

3. Jello effect in videos at the long end of the zoom.

4. Aperture, Shutter and IS control during video would have been nice.

i will ask.

Hi Paul,

did the recent firmware update address anything related to video? Are there any updates likely for reducing the "jelly" effect in video?

The RAW speeds on the HS10 (4-5 seconds per shot) took a significant step backwards from the previous S100/S200 series. This makes using RAW very limited unless this can be corrected in the firmware.

I would also like to comment on the number of MP. I hope the next bridge sensor (BSI ?) does not increase the number of MP. This only degrades the image quality and does not provide any more details (contrary to how it gets marketed). The F80EXR is a case in point as the F70exr produces less noise at high ISO.
A great comment for the sensor makers and all the other competitors. You have to keep up with the market trend or else you won't get listed or sell any cameras...sad but true. Most people still misunderstand MP.

Paul,

I am an owner of a brand new S205EXR camera. I use this camera along with a Mac computer and have found the RAW processing software (FinePix Studio) to be utterly worthless . The inadequacies of this software are truly astounding. I have never seen such a slow program before. It is inconceivable that any sane person would try to process 200 or so images using this pathetic program.

As a result of this, I am significantly dissatisfied with my Fuji camera. I feel completely ripped off that one of the main photographic features advertised about this camera is so unusable.

I do not expect you to fix this of course. However, you are a representative of Fuji Marketing and so should have direct access to the Product Development Group. I hope you clearly inform them that their miserable efforts in this area have cost them at least one future sale and more than a bit of bad press.

Fujifilm should be embarrassed to release such a miserable program. The graphics alone look like they came straight out of the 1980's.

I don't believe that statement.

If Fuji where to release and updated F31fd with a 28-140mm lens and IS it would sell like hot cakes as would the S6500fd with a decent EVF and IS.

If all the review sites gave those cameras top marks for IQ and handling the people selling cameras in shops would surely recommend them and we would all be happy.

Paul.

Also, didnt the latest Canon G series camera actually reduce MP's? (G10 or G11, cant remember which).

Most of the new cameras being released are pushing 14MP if what Paul Woodall is telling us is to be taken as true why release their latest camera with only 10MP! That goes against everything he just said.

Thanks for reply. I am glad to see your support. You asked what I wanted in a camera.

I want to graduate to a better camera. I want better IQ. When I moved from the S7000 to the S9100 I got better IQ and a much better lens. I want the same now. I think the HS10 is an awesome camera with some really cool features but I want to move up. I am hoping Fujifilm is going to come through and a nod from you will make me wait.

How far up do you want to go? Both the S100fs and S200EXR are better than the old S9100/9600 what more do you want in your next camera? Sounds to me like you need a DSLR.

Paul.

works well with a work flow? I had to spend 125.00 for RAW Developer for my mac
The Fuji updaters are useless. Nice to meet you btw...
Thanks!

I posted a longer, more detailed complaint against Fuji's worthless software. So far, Paul has not responded. You and I are not alone with being dissatisfied with our S200EXR's due to the inability to use RAW files or paying huge money to get that ability.

Well Paul you may be right. I have looked and priced and waffled.
