A few BW's from Venice (many images) - M9 and D-Lux 4

Moments matter. Gear does matter to allow for the moment's capture. But yeah, the creative eye is the most important part of the equation...., the gear is just the box you put infront to freeze things...

Seriously, though, I do own Leica gear, as I feel it adds to my experience in making images.

Another amazing set of photos Ashwin. My favorite is the last photo. I like the contrast and darker blacks. And capturing the kiddo all excited evokes a good emotional reaction from the viewer. Well done!

Yes, that's correct, first the moment, then the tools. I have still in mind 2 or 3 amazing pictures from you at venice (a previous post) and sure that a good sensor and great primes to play with DOF add something more when needed !

"Bravo !" one more time.

How I wish I can take such pictures, the M9 shots were timeless...they are like the water, having a ripple effect on me...

Very nice series, especially #1, # 2, #3, #4 , #8, #9 and #11 IMHO.

In #1, the flying pigeon on the left part of the picture is perfect.

Did you consider a diptych using #3 and #4. It would work very well I believe.

Overall I find the composition, the post processing and the perspective excellent. Which focal length did you use? It looks 35mm to me. Anyway it works very well, not too wide, the way it should be.

On #5 did you use the same lens? The perspective looks different...

I'm not so sure about the last two (color) pictures though. I'm curious how they would turn out in B&W.

Cheers,

Tregix.

They draw you into the wet Venice beautifully, each one is special in it's own way, and I looked at them again and again, which for me is a sign they really got me. If I had to pick favourites it would probably be 3 & 4, but why pick?

thanks for sharing
