Auto Focus - 717 vs. 707 & General

Mr. Stacey,

Yes this thread is about AF, and I said I agree that Sony F717 offers MUCH better AF than Canon D60. And yes I also agree that "use of memory stick with no RAW" (good or bad) is off topics here. My apology to you.

The only complaint I have noticed was its speed. The 717 has even faster focusing so they are addressing that issue.

I've seen a couple complaints about AutoFocus on the 707 (and
plenty of other digicams for that matter).
Can someone describe the problem
how about you describe the problem... can you be more specific, can
you post links to the couple of complaints you've read, can you
post actual examples...? usually that's what people do here, if
they are really interested in a particular topic...

I checked the focus times at IR and the D60 was slightly faster than the 717. The D60 also has a focus lamp and can focus in complete darkness.

So I don't know where this is coming from. The D60 has the slowest focus on the DSLRs, but that doesn't mean it is terrible by consumer camera standards.

Certainly the 717 has the best Non-SLR focus and it competes favorably with the D60. But comparing them directly is apples and oranges. The D60 will depend on which lens is installed for one factor.
