I need more reach

I think that you're likely to be told that you already own it. I know I certainly covet that lens.

If you really want to give it up, send it to me. I'd be happy to return a lovely 24 - 120 (the old one, not the new VR model). Seriously, I believe that your next step would be to add another lens. There's a number of candidates that are FX lenses, both zooms and primes.

You need to be more specific to folks to be able to offer any real advice.

Well, this is a strange Q since there are only a handful of Nikkor 24- lenses. Therefore pretty easy to research;) .

If you are looking for a 24-105 Canon equiv. you should know that there isn't one and that Canon lens is nowhere close to the 24-70 2.8 Nikkor. The Canon is a good lens but not outstanding. Yes, I have used one, most of my friends have one(after all, it was kitted with the 5D) and I do wish Nikon had one or similar.

I have the 24-70 2.8 and am considering selling it.

What the best lens in FX Nikon brand in a 24-?
Clearly the best Nikon 24-xx lens is the 24-70 F2.8...

I'd guess you should add a 70-200vr II at this point if you don't have one.

There isn't a lot of love for the 24-120.

I'm afraid I have to agree with everybody else in the thread, the 24-70 is really the best it gets for an FX mid-zoom. I've owned the 24-120 and was very disappointed on both film and digital, I didn't bother replacing mine when it was stolen. I also own the 24-85 f/2.8-4, which is certainly not something you'd want to buy, as it's insanely soft.

70-200 is probably going to be the best option, although it's a real pain to carry, and swapping lenses isn't the best solution.
