EX1 image with OVF mounted

Nice, looks good, I wonder if the wide angle lens do decrease the brightness of the lens ??????

I also wonder what would be the relationship between OVF and the optical lens.

OVF seems to be an accessory but be useful when it is difficult to see through the LCD due to brigntness of the sunlight.

For my use, an add on optical viewfinder would be a requirement rather than an accessory. But what I cant get is that it seems that everybody that makes one makes it for the flash shoe mount with no provision for a flash to then mount on it. You take a little camera that I can't use, add a viewfinder to make it usable, then take away the flash hot shoe which turns it back into largely unusable again for indoor use.

You don't get the point IMO, the viewfinder is only for outdoor when the sun does not allow the LCD to be used, then outside you will not need a external flash, certainly not with such a good low light lens, for inside shot's the LCD will work better then the external viewfinder, then eventually you can put a external flash on it, and then again with that lens it's not neccessary in most cases to use a flash, most pictures taken with available light is alway better. !!!

To each his own. For me, I would disagree on most points. Optical viewfinder is just as much an asset indoors in low light where the lcd really degrades. LCD still has the built in lag only showing you what recently happened, but you can't photograph it because it's too late. And available light works for special artsy, moody things and for special effects, but if you want sharp clear images indoors in lower or even typical lighting, flash is an absolute necessity. Image quality won't be in the same category without flash.

Now, how do you know the focal distance that you are using through the OVF? has it some kind of marks or signs to know the frame of the picture?

You're in the wrong forum, for your needs you must use a DSLR !!

There should be no perceptible effect on the brightness of the lens -- the WA adapter is an afocal lens and doesn't change the aperture values. There may be a very slight decrease because you've added some additional lens surfaces but, if the lens is multi-coated, that loss will be less than 1 percent. Wide angle adapters can result in some additional distortion in some cases -- it depends on how well the WA lens is matched to the camera lens.

I'm new on this list. Never thought about Samsung before. Searching for a smaller G11, this could be the one. 1 GB internal memory?! Prefer EVF, but maybe the variangle LCD is so good you don't need one? Even with image quality a little below G11, this is very interesting. Problem in Norway could be to find and try it out in a store, but that may change if it is a success. Seems like Samsung is going the right way. Image quality will come..

The lag would be imperceptible on an LCD - on an AMOLED screen it would be even less!

I know nothing about an AMOLED screen as I have never owned one and base my opinions on my experiences, but can guarantee you that the lag on the lcd of cameras is not imperceptible. Anyone can easily prove this to themselves by trying a few really simple experiments. Set up a 2 year old at close range with a piece of chocolate cake, prefocus to take the focus lag away, watch your lcd only and try to catch that perfect expression. Then if you have a way, use the same camera using the optical viewfinder or just looking over the camera not watching the lcd. In the first instance be prepared to throw lots of shots of the kid's ears, chin, hands in front of face, etc away and have a few good ones. With the second trial enjoy your well timed shots.

It's great force!! I eagerly look forward to next design..
but I am concerned about picture quality a little...
