M 4/3 gang,

I just ordered a EPL-1 and try to mount it with a FD-> M 4/3 adapter and I can make use of all my collection of fd lens over the years.

Anyone going the same route, some tips to share ? some photos to show ?

28 f/2.8, 50 f/1.2, 35-105 f/3.5, 135 f/2, 70-210 f/4 ...

are they all going to be 2x .... while the aperture stay the same like

28 f/2.8 will become 56 f/2.8 ?
70-210 f/4 will become 140-420 f/4? etc ...

manual focus is easy in PENs ?

thanks again and a warm welcome to the M 4/3 forum will be well appreciated :)

Hi, welcome! :)

I shoot E-P2 with a bunch of FD lenses. The ones like 14/2.8 and 20/2.8 I rarely use as they're big and expensive and don't bring much because of crop factor.

I also tried 70-210/4 a few times and while 420mm is impressive, I've never been the one for tele lenses so I don't have any worthwhile images to show. It's also a pain to focus - when you use focus magnifier, just then do you realize how precise you need to focus these lens; even if the subject is far away you can't just focus to infinity. Furthermore, this lens doesn't really have good IQ in my oppinion. Low contrast and visible CA coupled with size/weight and focusing precision required doesn't make me want to use it.

Yes, all lenses become 2x with same aperture. MF is pretty nice with PENs, except for persistent MF assist which many wish would turn off with a half-press of shutter button.

I shot most with following lenses, so here are few examples:

FD 50mm f/1.8 soft-focus filter:

FD 50mm f/1.8 unprocessed:

FD 55mm f/1.2 cross-process filter:

FD 55mm f/1.2 unprocessed:

Very impressive Matijaa, very nice photos you took. Yes, mf can be painful but I am ok with it, and most of the time even with AF, I do MF, because I like the feeling from blurr to focus locked ... like from the old day. I will share with you my progress.

thanks again :)

M 4/3 gang,

Congrats! Good choice.
28 f/2.8, 50 f/1.2, 35-105 f/3.5, 135 f/2, 70-210 f/4 ...
Those are all decent lenses. I don't personally like the bokeh on the 28/2.8, and I think the 70-120/3.5 (Vivitar version) has better IF than the f/4 version, but they'll do the job.
are they all going to be 2x .... while the aperture stay the same like

70-210 f/4 will become 140-420 f/4? etc ...
2x crop factor, and also 2x the DOF compared to FF/35mm, but the aperture itself stays the same. So your 28/2.8 becomes a 56/2.8 but with the DOF of a 56/5.6.

thanks for the tips, really appreciated :) I am still waiting for the camera to come.
