Here's a video and thread from Tim (Stimmer) Higdon he shot with an EP2 http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1041&message=34956388 . This is pretty well done, the quality is there and I'm not so sure it would add $100 to the body since the technology is already developed. I have shot some video from my ep2 and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and how nice it is. If you don't use it fine but it is the way of the photographic world and here to stay.Jon,
Do not take me wrong. The E-620 is $600 with two lenses. Adding video would add another $100 or more.Manufacturer can not just add POOR video and let reviewers and owners to put the whole camera down. Also those who want video want the good one.
My understanding was that he used it to get shallower depth of field than was available from sub-35mm video cams. The Panasonic 4/3 video cam with HG and SHG lenses would, as others have said, probably offer more features that a movie-maker would want than does a video-enabled DSLR. I would say that, of course, because I suggested, back here http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1022&message=34650730 that the way ahead from Panasonic is extracting stills from video, so no need for DSLRs at allBut yeah.. that bold move by the House director to shoot the finale with the 5D is a ground breaking step.
Might help out the entire DSLR market and industry in general, even OLY once they tune in.

Bill,One caveat is editing, you'll need software to do this and there in lies the expense, not to mention the time to learn both the video process and the editing process. Yes it won't be for everyone.....

--You know, that might be a great question, but for me, being a big fan of the show, I now eagerly look forward to this final episode.
I think it was a brilliant move on behalf of Canon. You can't take it away from them, their advertising and marketing is the best. I suppose they have buckets of money to throw at things like this. but you have to know, that unless the equipment performed to their high quality demands.. there is no way in hades that the producers and director of this award winning TV show would risk such a move.
Kudos to Canon! And yes. .I believe this move will lend great credence to the arrival of high grade broadcast quality video in a DSLR package, regardless of brand and Oly will no doubt benefit greatly as well.
