... Just over four hours old now.

Went out and took a few pix. Mostly in full auto mode. These have all been edited, to a point.

Will post larger sizes when I get the hang of the camera.

First five were shot using 'Standard' colour, the rest using 'Chrome'.

Cheers, Dave.

PS - Not sure why the images are being labelled as DSCF1xxx. The first image shown here is the first image taken though.

First two - 24 mm, followed by 720 mm.

... Yes, I did not play with any camera settings. The first five were all 'SR Auto'. The others in P mode and colour changed to 'Chrome'.

However, these have been post processed and sharpened for web viewing. I haven't yet played with any other settings, but will later.

Cheers.

Good start dave, you have set a good Bench Mark with the camera, colours look good ect, but how do you feel about the camera overall given your short time with it, how do you like it compared to your other cameras.

Regards Alan. :P

looks great dave , colours look good, fun times ahead then
cheers Rick

Very, very nice...! :)

What's the percentage (approx) of keepers to trash regarding quality...? Is it acceptable...?

The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime there's a 50-50 chance you'll get something right there's a 90% chance you'll get it wrong... ;)

... First impressions.

Very comfortable, easy to use. Well laid out buttons. EVF and LCD are good. EVF is a tad small though. Shot-to-shot seems slower than I would have thought.

Focus seems fairly quick, and accurate. Zoom is stiff, but smooth.

I'll post something more about all this when I've had more play time.

Cheers.

... I normally don't use the DPR galleries. Thought I would try it though. I usually resize to 900, these are at 800.

I'll put up some others, at a larger size, once I get the hang of the camera.

That long zoom image is not great. Just showing the coverage. Has some camera shake also. Glad you like the rope, I like that also.

Cheers.

Love the shots Dave. You always keep the subject simple, and in this case a good lead in to a new camera. I note the full zoom shots are sharp.

I particularly like the ‘ropes’ and the ‘old machinery’.

Looking forward to more examples preferably low light stuff.

The dpreview galleries work very well but I find the images hosted on there lack detail unless you click (original).

Ah, is DSCF1002a a full zoom of DSCF1001a? If it is then I wouldn’t expect to much of any camera at that distance.

You mention the shot to shot time as slow, I found this a problem on the S200EXR yet the S100fs was fine, Fuji seem to be going backwards in this department!

I like the skin tones here more than when you shoot with your F200/S100 but not being there only you know how they really look.

All the best,

Paul.

... Yes, the first two are same scene - 24mm and then 720mm.

Shot to shot does seem slow. Not sure if it just settings. I'll play around more tomorrow.

Skin tone seems quite good. A little light though. That was shot in Chrome. I think I like Chrome. I shot quite a few other people shots but liked this one most.

Cheers.

I am 99% buying this camera.
Just need a few things from owners :)

1. Video - Any manual controls while shooting video, or is it 100% automatic? Also try some low light videos for us and post on youtube
2. Please shoot the moon and post 100% and 50% crops

3. Whats the write speed while shooting raw? If RAW is used how much wait before clicking next pic?

I'm not sure I was looking at the performance of the camera at first. I was more intent on enjoying the photos. Lovely part of the World!
