I've only had my 602 for a couple of days but I thought a trip to the Zoo would be a perfect place to try and grab some nice pics.

I'm VERY new to photography so I'm still playing with some of the cameras functions. Today in SYdney was a beautiful day, and fittingly, some of the animal decided to come out and play!

For you people that aren't Australian (or haven't been here) all the photo's were taken at Sydney's Toronga Park Zoo - right on Sydney Harbour.

I hope you enjoy :-)

Still need lots of practise but I'm having fun - which is the main thing!

Nice pictures! I especially like the shot of the Tiger... You obviously zoomed in on it from behind a protective "moat" or something but it looks like you are 5 feet away from it with just that wire between the two of you!

Yeah the Tiger is one of my favorites, with a bit of cropping and even some 'wire removal' to get rid of the little barrier thing it will be a really great photo.

The meir cats are also very photogenic how they always site up and pose for you.

I have done a bit of work on the Tiger phot - I removed all the bars and wires from the photo and set the background to B/W

I am fairly pleased with the output.

Have a look at tigerfinished.jpg - comments welcome.

Very nice work indeed. I'm sure it must have taken some time to remove the bars and wires. I actually saw the edited version first and was worried that the tiger might have pounced on you after you snapped it's pic!

Might I be so bold as to suggest a little change to your edited picture. The leaf behind the tiger's head is a bit distracting, and I would recommend it be removed, something like this:

For comparison, here's a reduced image of the original 'tigerfinished' pic:

After seeing how well you removed the wires and bars from the original picture, I know you can do a much better job of removing the leaf than I did. Oh, and If you find this offensive in any way, please let me know and I will immediately remove the pictures.

Thanks for the tip tblue! I was too busy looking at the bar and wire removal and didn't really pic up on that. It's not offensive at all - I enjoy getting feedback.

I have made my changes to the original and looks a lot cleaner. The picture is comming on really nice - he really does look like he's going to jump at and grab you!

Thanks again,

Dane
