But it could have been his Chevrolet P/U. No, I won't show you every image I recorded at this Train Depot Museum but I thought you might like to see this 1929 Chevrolet P/U. This was an interesting photo because it's a five shot bracket (handheld) which was processed in a new program I discovered called HDR Photostudio2. By using this program I was able to bring out the detail in the window behind the car which was completely blown out before processing. And in case you are wondering what the price of gas might have been back then, I have posted a price sign that was on the gas pump behind the car. Enjoy!

....but it sure is a beautiful machine! I'd love to have one just like it....and the gas prices to go with it!

Thanks Wayne!

Wayne,

I love old car photos, do you have a link to more photos? Where is this museum located? How much does this new HDR program cost and how does it compare to Photomatix?

Questions, questions...

Eric

That car is really a beauty -- and the price of gas, well, what can we say? (Except if they'd start drilling in the US, we could be less dependent on foreign suppliers!! and maybe get the prices back to something reasonable).

Actually it'd be more from my grandfather's time -- I have a great photo of my grandmother driving a car in 1929 -- I'll try to scout it up to show you.

Good work with that 5 shot bracketing -- I'd like to learn how to do that. It's the post processing that's more daunting to me, though.

And here's a photo of that pump!

I think the price on it is 32.9¢ a gallon

Those photos were taken at the North Carolina Museum of Transportation.

I also have some more classic car shots I took when I visited the Virgina Museum of Transportation...

I'm an old car enthusiast too and photograph them where ever I see them. My Pbase gallery link is below. I have a separate gallery for antique cars and there is also a new gallery featuring images from this museum. The museum is located in Henderson, TX (East Texas) and if you like hitory you will love this museum.

The program I used on this is HDR Photostudio2. It costs $149 buit the trial version is free from theri web site. You can use it for 30 days and it does not impose a trademark on the image.

Because I live close to John Chandler, we are currently attempting to evaluate this new program against Photomatix. The jury is still out but I think the new one is easier to use and will automatically tone map the image for you and then you can tweak it from there.

Follow this link to their web site and free download.

Oh Susan , now that's a real treasure. The car appears to be a Chevrolet or at least that's what the symbol on the radiator looks like. Thanks for your interest in this post and your image of your Grandmother driving that car.

I haven't any idea what kind of car this was -- but there's my little immigrant grandma behind the wheel, in Newark, NJ -- January 1929

Read about one of them being restored here:

Mmmm. I'm not so sure about that. The radiator insignia looks different as do the headlights. But maybe it's just a different model of the same vehicle. Thanks for posting that.
