Hi all,

I just got my 550D yesterday evening, and had the chance to take a few snaps on my way home. :-)

Here are few from my first pictures, while I'm still in the proccess of getting familiar with the 550D, I must confess, I'm absolutely and truly amazed by the capabilities of this little giant :-)

The photos are processed through DPP and additionally vignetted, framed an resized with PS.

I can't remember, but I guess none of those where taken with iso100...

Most of them are iso1600 and above... there are even at least two iso12800 in there...

What do you think, not that bad at all, for such a little cam...

Thanks for watching and cheers

Tom

Thank you jonwald. :-)

The Lens is a borrowed Sigma 18-200mm 1:3.5-6.3 from a friend of mine until my own Sigma 28-70mm 1:2.8 arrives in a couple of days :-)

You got great results with it - would you recommend that lens even though you are moving to a different one?

Since I'm a longtime Fuji/Nikon user I'm really not familiar with Canon Lenses, so it would be a shot in the dark to recommend anything ;-)

I guess the best advise I can give is: Don't take the cheapest lenses, go for the better ones. :-)

Congratulations, your pictures look amazing. I really like their feel and how the textures shine throughout. Great DOP work too.

And they make me pretty anxious to get my 550d too eheh =D

Love the close-ups. Fanatstic art. :)

Hi skanter,

I saw your videotest the other day, thanks for sharing :-)

Do you have any experience with the Tamron 18-270mm f/3.5 -6.3 Di II VC Makro?
This seems also to be be a very capable allround Lens.

Thank you Luis Pires,

most of the pics where taken to test how sharp textures will be captured by the 550d.

I'm pretty sure you will enjoy this little giant :-D

Good point mani4c.

As a long time Fuji S5 user I was always very unhappy with the lack of sharpness the cam produces.

I've always missed this more than sharp look "the others" could produce right away.

There was always a lot of post processing needed to come at least close to the sharpness.
And now the 550D is capable to produce this look right out of the box.

And not to mention the quality of the ultra high ISO pictures, some of those pictures where taken under circumstances i was not able to take any pictures without a tripod or a flash before.

So for me this is absolutely amazing. :-)
