I saw on Newegg today that a 7D was 1599.99 with Promo code of 'EMCYPZN22'. If I currently had the available funds for that, I would purchase it.

that's the normal price everywhere after the canon discount. no code required.

i
No its not. $1599 is the price of Body only with the canon discount. The promo code adds another $200 off (along with the $100 canon instant discount). So you are basically getting the 28-135 lens for FREE.

and as Im currently in the process of deciding on to get a 7d, I think this might be the one I purchase.

Thanks TC!!

No, the normal price is 1599 for the body only (with the discount). The normal price for the kit lens with the discount is 1699. Anyway, newegg is awesome, except it charges sales tax in california :( so deal breaker. And no bing cash back, another deal breaker.

Cool, Newegg's on the ball. Amazon and others aren't offering this (not yet, at least).

... In this season of filing tax returns, I feel I should remind everyone that you're supposed to pay the sales tax anyway. ;) New Egg's just playing more honestly than (e.g.) Amazon and collecting it up front.

omg shh. :)

Shall I just buy this kit now and then resell it in a couple of weeks as a kit or even separately? :-)

Wow thanks! Just what it took to push me over the edge. I have a 30D which has been fine although has annoyances like a lot of dust on sensor - lots of cleaning - and can't see settings in viewfinder. Otherwise I don't know what I'm missing. Weather resistance will help because I'm out in rain and snow often.

Thinking even though I unexpectedly came into $2k last month, I'm going to sell the 30D. I figure this kit lens will make it a much more desirable sell - otherwise I'm keeping my other lenses - a 17-55, a 100 (not macro), a 200, and a 100-400. Although I could sell the two primes as I only use them when traveling and don't want to pack the 100-400 - I'll take one or the other.

Been reading the forums so know that this cam will give me some challenges.

Total cost was $1636 because I'm in Alaska and had to spring for FedEx 2nd day at $37+. I would have gotten an extra battery but that added over $4 shipping so will just get it through a free shipping place like Amazon or whatever. I didn't bother with bing - so someone could have knocked off some more from that price. (someone said 2% which is - adding in my head - somewhere around $32 which would have paid most my shipping. Oh well.

thanks again! jd

Ok, Im just about to order it and I went through bing to get 2% back but is there supposed to be any identifying icons (on newegg.com) that says Im getting bing cashback? I know on ebay there is a little flag at the top that says you are using bing cashback, but on newegg there is nothing that I can find.

I just want to make sure that when I press submit order I really will be getting the 2% back through bing.

Thanks anyone who knows this.

All,

Has anyone been successful getting one of the large camera sellers to price match this? I tried a few and they would not (won't match a coupon code price).

Skip Bing and use FW cashback. http://www.fatwallet.com/coupons-cash-back/Newegg/

Much easier and more reliable IMO. I have used FW for a few years now and buy a lot from Newegg.

Very good point. People need to stop assuming that they don't owe tax, just because the retailer doesn't collect it for them. They're breaking the law, albeit a pretty unenforceable law.

But you're wrong on one point. Newegg isn't being any more honest than Amazon. They have a warehouse in CA, so they charge sales tax in CA. Amazon also charges sales tax in states where they have a warehouse. Newegg does NOT charge me sales tax. I live in Washington State. So apparently they aren't being honest here ;-).

15% restocking fee if you have to return.
If you open it and decide you don't want it, yes.

I have gotten defective/damaged hard drives before and they replaced them for free. I have had good experiences dealing with Newegg and I have bought thousands of $$ of stuff. The worst thing I can say about them is the packing of hard drives was crappy for a while and some got damaged in shipment, but they took care of it.

Shipping is very fast, I often get things in 2 days from them with std shipping. (MI)
