Same as Teddy, Netscape 4.73

It works fine in IE 5 though.

Like I said, I checked my settings several times and even made a sample page to test visited links and they work fine.

I even checked one of the sites I've made that uses the
"text-decoration: none" tag but that one works too.

Like I said, it used to work for me in THIS browser and I don't normally change those settings in the browser. As a matter of fact, I set it up when I install it and leave it alone after that. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to that.

Not sure what could be wrong.

George
Hhhmm, you're right George. I thought its just my browser, that I might
have accidentaly changed some settings. Thanks for posting your
observation here at the forum.

I seem to have started something but really, I like this site and have spent a lot of time here lately and I do have a hard time navigating through it since this happened. Wherever the problem may be.

George
Follow-up. I checked other sites, my browser is fine, unread links is of
different color than read ones.
Phil, what's supposed to be the right colors ? It might be my eye. :)

Teddy

Man, I'm soo stupid. I didn't think about that.

As you understand, I don't do much of that for my clients. Most of them don't have any ads on their sites.

George
Phil, I am curious as I'm right around Charlotte, NC.

How come you have so many banner ads from Charlotte. YOu are NOT from
around here are you? I got the impression you were in Asia with all the
asian pics in your galleries.

As the matter of fact, I was just over to Quality Chrome the other day
and just saw their banner.

In case you don't know by the way, NICE SITE!

:)

What's with all the Asian pictures then? All the pictures in the gallery when you test cameras surely aren't from the UK?

George

Phil used to live in Asia (forget exactly which country) until recently, when he moved BACK to the UK. Was a pretty huge move, but his site hardly missed a beat through all of that.

I liked the Asian artwork and places he took shots of, but I'm also looking forward to a different sort of set of subjects for his future review images. He should have lots of good material in the UK.

I would guess Phil used to live in Singapore, since a lot of the pictures he has on his site are from Singapore. I sent him an email telling him that we seem to hang out in about the same areas when we're in Singapore (no response from him on this, though) as he has many pictures that are similar to pictures I have ;^)

No offense Phil but I'd rather you move back to Asia then. :)

I really like those Asian pictures with all the pretty colors. I've lived in Europe long enough and I've seen a lot of what's there. I mean, I've been to 25 countries and lived in 4 of which 3 of them are in Europe and although there is a lot of pretty stuff there, I would personally get more out of pictures from Asia.

So, when are you going back to Singapore or wherever? :)

George

It's not a biggie but I would personally like to see a POST button on TOP
and not only at the bottom. For instance, right next to the e mail field.
I often post a lot of short messages and it would be sweet being able to just
click that little thingie instead of scrolling down.

Heh..

I lived in Singapore for 3 years, started the site in 1998 while I was there, things really took off and I spun off a "holding company" for the site which I've since "brought home", now I'm living back in the UK..

If you take a look at samples of the newer cameras you'll notice a more english feel... (no sun).

And that wasn't easy...

It's there to force newbies (and long term posters alike) to have passed-by the notes and conditions of posting.

A few months ago we had a spate of 'stupid posts' which caused no end of problems, banning the poster caused a "dpreview nation" revolt (something about civil liberties.. which made me laugh). The bans stuck, but I've had to impose the disclaimer and warning text you see below the message box, and people have to pass by it before clicking on post.. sorry.

I see your point. I have less problems with these issues than you might as I have no forum on my site and the sites I make, whether they do or not, are NOT mine but I can imagine you do.

I have too many bad memories from chatrooms when I first got online where I got kicked out by ops simply because they could. Finally, I started my own chatroom that I've had since fall 1996 by the way and that's where I met my wife.

:)

Yeah, people get stupid, especially on the web.

Again, you're doing a helluva job Phil.

Phil -

Bahahahahah!! I'm sorry, but I couldn't contain myself this time (normally restrained as I am).

That was a pretty dumb set of threads, IMO. Seems so long ago now. Good grief, it's your site! And you so rarely impose that sort of thing. I can't believe the directions in which that took off. :)

Anyway, I like the rules you've imposed. If people were more "civil" to one another, then we wouldn't have to worry about "civil liberties" to begin with. Rules are there in place for those who are disrespectful of one another, not for those who already show the sense and courtesy that everyone deserves.

I like the POST button where it is. Every time I scroll down, I'm reminded to ask myself, "Did I just post something I should not have?" That's the purpose, isn't it?

What I'll be doing soon is rolling the "How to..." info up into a help pop-up, so that'll probably put the button back on the same page you type in...

Has anyone here noticed the improvements that Phil has been experimenting
with and making to the Forums section?
I commented on this in a message yesterday and just couldn't get it through - my computer was going all haywire - then suddenly the 'new look' arrived. Much better in many ways, especially the EDIT if you're in a hustle and miss spellings as I often do !!

Eric
Quite nice, IMO. Very helpful.
