Sounds like the reviewer liked the EPL1. AF is still slow. Oh well. Can't have it all. Hopefully the new Oly lens will do the trick. Just wish they'd release them sooner!

It seems clear that this reviewer never discovered the customization menus. Repeated mention of the missing AEL button, no mention that either the fn or movie button can become that. No mention of the new display screen options (which are disabled in the custom menus by default.)

I was kinda put off by some of what they said, but I'm going to enjoy the camera anyway and not waste any more time worrying about it. :)

What new display screen options? Can you educate me? Glad to hear AE lock can be programmed onto a button. Thanks for your comments.

can you manually set the exposure for video? if yes, Im so considering getting this one. my e-p1 has auto video exposure.

I don't have a leica Ok!

I thought the review was very positive. But you should enjoy your camera regardless of what anyone says anyway. Your opinion of your own camera is all that matters. :) I wish I could be enjoying my Pen right now ... but I have to work!

Off the top of my head, I don't remember everything on the menu. The one I've been using a lot, which seems pretty effective and isn't on my E-P1, is called Highlights&Shadows on the menu. It shows during liveview/composure the areas that will be over/underexposed in bright red/blue (I think it uses the clipping levels you set in one of the other custom functions, but I'm not positive.)

it's helpful so that I don't worry about clipping the lamps that are in a frame, possibly underexposing to save them from the histogram, for example.

I am expecting to receive my blue E-PL1 today, but before this review I didnt think this camera had a focus assist lamp? can anyone confirm this?

Hi there...I just bought the EP-L1 and really liked it. Anyway, I was browsing on the net and discovered that the Imaging Resource website has there EP-L1 samples out and comparing them to samples of DSLR such as Canon 7D, Pentax kx, and even the Nikon D700. I was really impress...check it out.

well, I don't have an E-PL1, but the specifications list of the preview here on DPReview has a quite emphatic 'no' for an AF Assist light.
