Not necessarily our two best shots technically but just your favorites with a brief description why. Limit it to two only.

Maybe this will give you a chance to think about what you really like the most about photography - easy to lose track of that.

I know I know it's a gear forum but I am a bit fed up with gear right now.

I will start in the next post.

After a long winter season in NW Colorado this was a spring event at the ski area. After little color for 6 months this was really great color to me along with the expression and hair color of the little girl. Reminded me of my kids when they were little.

The juxtaposition of the heron and the boat and the colors just do it for me on this one. Also the fact that it was a quick snap as I saw the bird coming a second or so ahead as I was trying to get a shot of this boat. Not a planned shot.

Neither great shots but my two favorites.

I grabbed this shot at a local festival and like the expression and colors:

Sorry, but have to show this family member. This is my great grandson (he is blind) playing with the dog and both are having a ball. It's called, "That tickles!"

Take the scenic route! Life is too short to do otherwise.

First one an HDR image, taken at early dawn in autumn at my local railway. It was fairly cool that morning, and I think the image captures that feeling nicely.

The second is beach sunset image, taken over Christmas. I particularly like the solitary gull, combined with the width and emptyness of the almost still sea.

Regards,
Mike

I'd prefer my DSLR without video, thank you.

I like the delicate colors and shading in this sunset. Definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time.

One of my favorite theater shots. Great costumes and lighting in this show and I just like the compositional lines in this shot.

Sure like those; especially the first one for the comp. Everything leads to the left; the railroad, the road and even the contrails.

Hard to say why :|

here maybe for the small hand up to mommy...

and here ... face into the light...

Thank you for this thread...

Tom great idea.

Yes this is a gear site, but what again is gear for? ; )

Anyone can talk about equipment, but seeing what it is capable I think is also very important.

a700 w/Tamron 17-50 - 30 second exposer shot in the dark.

a700 w/Minolta 75-300 BBC shot from the top deck middle section.

This one just seems to make people smile...

I dunno, I just like lighthouses...

Great idea, thanks,

Darrell

This first one I like because it describes how i felt when i took it. My son had just been diagnosed with Hemophilia days earlier and I felt extremely alone, especially in my thoughts. The lone man at the picnic table really struck me on an emotional level.

This one is my son at 13 months. He had just finished eating and was off to play when he saw the cat eating his leftovers on the table.

Sony A300 - Tamron 17-50/2.8 - Tamron 70-200/2.8 - Sony 50/1.8 - Kenko telepro 300 1.4 TC - extension tubes

Two very powerul images, particularly when one knows the background behind them.
Thanks

I like this one because it reminds me of the great vacation we had in 2006.

This is a shot of my kids who actually get along great. We were on a ferry and they got out of the car and watched the sunset together. She has always looked up to him and you can see it in this shot. :)
