Photo Printers Review

Oh I forgot, the environmental temperature also play a role in affecting print longevity, and it acts like a catalyst (higher temp, more severe fading).

Hello,

In regards to the longevity question with the HP 10ps. The Cyan No 11

ink is the problem. Varies with different paperes but fades very quickly. Stephen Livick and I will be
giving you estimated image permanence information soon. We have
recorded a lot of data but are awaiting the arrival of more sophisticated
measuring instruments for obtaining indoor UV readings which are
quite low. We need these indoor UV readings to compare with lux readings.

Joe I am looking forward to your "best of the best" for the S9000.

I received 3 new Epson 2200 samples today and they are awesome. This will be a very stiff competition. I can give you a hint that you are going to have to focus on dynamic range if you want to beat out these samples!

I will have them up in the new arrivals section of the web late tomorrow night for anyone that may be interested in seeing some improved Epson 2200 printouts.

Can you post the profiles you used for the Canon S9000 please?
The "JB Profiles" used on my submissions are freely available on
the website http://wandb.com/icc.htm (website owned by Mark Ward).

I think my contributions would have scored even higher ( sniff ) if
I had used my Profile Prism profiles. Alas, the license agreement
for PP does not permit me to share them with non-PP-owners. I
thought it was "fair" to use only those profiles that were
available to all S9000 owners.

(I am thinking of sending my best PP result to Frank and Alfred for
inclusion, however. I really wanna beat that Epson 2200!
Competitive? Me? ;-)

And, by the way, Profile Prism (at only $69) is the best money
you'll ever spend to improve the quality of your printing --
regardless of which make and model of printer you own! Check it
out at http://www.ddisoftware.com/prism

I have received some feedback from one visitor to the web site that the text on the pages was being displayed extremely wide and required constant scrolling back and forth to be read.

Has anyone else experienced this? The site is designed to have the pages be 640 pixels wide (except for pages with rows of images/crops.) So, if the text is much wider than 640 I have a bug and would appreciate any feedback which could give me some hints. I have tried several different systems and browsers and so far the only issue is with older versions of Netscape causing a server error (I am still working on that one.)

TIA,

Frank
Alfred Voegels would like to call your attention to an evaluation
of print samples from several of today’s popular photo printers.
The evaluation started here at dpreview in the thread

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1003&message=3126587

where Alfred decided that in order to make an informed buying
decision he would ask readers of dpreview to send him some samples
of their printers. This call for samples resulted in several
volunteers sending in samples and some of us reviewed and evaluated
those samples. The result of this evaluation is available online in
a web site we created for this purpose.

Looked at it from three different computers, three different OS and three versions of IE. No problems on any. (W95/W2K/WXP IE 5.0/5.5/6.0) Screen resolutions 800x600 1024x768 and a laptop with a wierd resolution...

No problems on any of them with full screen view. he must be 640x480 or less....

PS. What are you doing wasting time reading what I write anyway. Get off the Internet and go out and have some fun!

I use XP and IE6 at 1024x768 and the table at http://www.thenichols.net/html/ratings.html

is wider than the screen and the actual page width is ENORMOUS, about 3 times the width of the table.
