***** Minichallenge 235 : Broken! *****

This is my first challenge entry anywhere on this site. But it just so happens that I took a couple of apropos photo while out surveying the damage from our "blizzard." These two are very similar images, but one in color and one in B&W.

The weight of the snow on the tree branches above broke them, and snapped the head off this lamp post.

The first shot.... a wonderfully layered sea of green, red, white and the distant salutation!
Once again, nice images !

Thanks Olivia! ...
LOL Rancho Starvo! Is there a story behind that??
There probably is, but I don't know what. I've passed this place a couple of times in the last few years. It never looks any different--there's a car by the house but nothing going on there. Beautiful horses are in the adjoining pasture though, so I assume his neighbor is doing well, or at least better.
And I love the tree, spectacular shot!
There were several of these in this grove. Really cool to walk through and photograph.

Thank you nvrcrywlf! Now if the photo could only match your eloquent description of it. :)

The red paint still looks to be in pretty good shape so they must have (or had ) enough money or that.

This is what happens when you keep your point and shoot in your pocket and it falls out in the arm chair. Poor little guy got his body chewed up when I reclined. Shot this with my T1i with the 18mm-55mm lens.

Not the image I wanted to take, but my prop I ordered didn't get her in time.

Thanks webphisher - we still have another whole day - maybe it'll turn up at the 11th hour. What was it by the way, I'm intriugued?

Here's my two entries:

I spotted the little headless critter on a busy sidewalk and took several snaps. This was the only one without someone's feet in the shot! He seemed to be saying "I'm not finished yet!" :)

The old building was part of a disused factory area and the collapsed funnels made for a very unique perspective when taken with my 10-22mm lens @ 10mm.

Cheers!

Paul

My 5 cents: turn off Highlight Tone Priority!

Hope I'm still in time, here's my first mini-challenge entry ever. Taken with my 1000D and using a Tamron 19-35mm @ 26mm, F8.0, ISO100 and 1/500s. The photo's named Broken Connection.

Paul - wonderful shots, and the headless toy is saying so much! :)

1 day left everybody!
You posted this 52 minutes after 7pm GMT on 11 Feb. Did the deadline get extended for a day?...or else I'm am off an entire day?

Wonderful shots of these grand old broken down abandoned structures..... I've walked around these very structures on my many sojourns to Death Valley !
