***** Minichallenge 235 : Broken! *****

Mirror shards ... That is really a nice composition. The lighting is superb too.
Thanks Nick! As an aside it was with natural sunlight. It was in an old barn with a reeds/asbestos roof with holes in it casting shafts of sunlight. One of those shafts was used with the bigger part of the broken mirror to reflect the light onto Janna from the ground. We had to work fast as the sun moved as aligning the mirrors wasn't easy :)
You have a gift for creativity, and a photographer's eye to be envied. Janna makes a great model we so often see in your photos.

Too bad you don't know the history of that place. Looks old, and obviously built by skilled craftsmen of their day.

The fatter your camera bag, the thinner your wallet. :|

When I saw your photo a lightbulb came on (so to speak). Does this give us some insight on what you do, and where "sparky2" came from? I know just enough about this stuff to stay away from it. :P
Believe me when I say that you don't want me to find this broken object in your home. Or another way to look at it is if it is in your home you do want me to find it.

Nearly the end of the first day of the Challenge and there's already a wonderfully imaginative collection of pictures!

Thanks to all those that have posted so far.

If you've never entered a Challenge, you are new to the Forum or have never posted your pics before now, this may be the time to break your duck.

Hurrah for us.

It's no secret, it's been well known in this community that I'm a self employed electrician. I tried to get the screen name Sparky, Sparkey and a few others but they were already taken so I settled with Sparkey2. Granted I don't spend much time right here lately since I sold the XT but I keep coming back because the Rebel forum has to be one of the friendliest on the site.

I could show you equally real scary images from incompetence. This thing started smoking when I began the trouble shooting process. The weight of the house had settled on that wire and you can see what the pressure alone did to it.

Oh yea, some folks are are so fearful they are afraid to reset their own circuit breakers.

And you have another fine photo to show it.

Speaking of nature, here's a quote I came across once: “The major problems in the world are the result of the difference between how nature works and the way people think.” Gregory Bateson. There might be something to that.
Nature doesn't think, it just 'is' :)

I like the doll shot. Nice subdued color combinations, plus a very uncluttered way to display her. And even though broken, she's still smiling!

Any chance of seeing your museum photo? A Denver museum? That's really cool yours got chosen.
Before I get to this challenge (great idea) I just wanted to say that an image I shot was selected to be displayed in a Museum for a few months... the camera? Rebel XS... Thanks, Canon... :)

What a great theme Drewbie! In other challenges I've submitted older photos but this time I'd thought I'd actually look out for things that fit the theme on a trip to Sydney this weekend. Unfortunately it poured with rain all weekend so we really didn't go out much!

1. Broken Balustrade

On my brothers balcony - I was sitting there contemplating the rain when I spotted this.

2. Broken Century

My Nana, born 1910!! Also, she's retired and doesn't work anymore......sorry couldn't help myself ;)

3. Broken Wave

This is my goddaughter (creator of Shark Palace for those of you who may remember) breaking a wave at the beach recently.

Cheers Olivia
