I'll put it in a short form - Perhaps the best processing and the best shots I have seen on the FTF forum here!

Top shots Nick.
Thanks
I've had a play with the SB600 and think I'm now right in thinking that I can't be used in the same way you've done with the SB800 (no slave mode, unless I can't find it!)?
I thought the SB-600 did have a slave mode (although can't be used as a master) ...worth a try on the mode dial - info in the manual ?!

All the best,
Nick

I'll have another fiddle and see what I can find, I only spent a few minutes looking to be honest.

It obviously can be used in slave mode with the D300 as commander - but as far as a quick look showed doesn't have a general "go off when another flash fires" mode...I only see settings for CLS groups and channels, which I assume are dependent on specific pre-flash patterns from a commander camera/flash unit.

When you use the SB800 are you setting the groups/channels to anything specific?

Cheers - BT

SB-800 is set to 'Remote' / SU-4 for slave use, and A/1 for groups/channels ...although that shouldn't affect it at all - good luck !

Cheers, Dave

There are 7 or 8 diferent starting points for tone/contrast in PT in my Nik Color FX (which I use within Capture NX) ...I then usually dodge/burn and alter contrast manually, to get the results I'm after...but it's fun playing with the very many PToner options

Looking fwd to seeing some of your converted images !

All the best,
Nick

Hi Tom,

Maybe worth a small investment in an off-cam flash ...there are some really good-value Metz models, plus Nissin etc.

PS for the image above, I had a finger over the F200flash...just enough output to trigger, without blasting the subject

All the best,
Nick
