Pentax 430 Problem!!!

Just got the problem with my several month old 430. Was displaying images in the Play mode and the lens started retracting back to the body, when I decided to take another shot.

The camera doesn't work anymore, I turn it on, the lens start popping out and, then, a loud buzzing sound and the lens go back to the body and the camera shuts itself down.

Any idea how to fix it? It's still under warranty, I should take it back to the store then?

While we're on the subject, my 330RS has previously been switching it self off and when I try to turn it on again it would sometimes try at other times it would just flash the red n green lights beside the viewfinder. I gave the battery a real good charging and it hasn't happened today - yet. Is this just a case of a low battery? I had no indication of a low battery though. Is this a defect or is this normal? My machine is new so I don't have any experience with it.

Yura - have you tried charging the battery and trying again? Yours is a similar problem to mine and a charging seemed to help.

Thanks for your reply, Simeon. I think, it's a mechanical problem with the zoom lens barrel mechanism. The battery was well charged, not fully but enough to make the camera operate.

I already called the store and they advised to bring it there for sending the camera to the service centre. Hope, it won't take long to get it fixed.

Will try my very best to sell it anyway, and buy Sigma one

Just picked up my repaired 430 from the store. It's taken more than a month to get it fixed - usually 3-4 weeks. The salesperson was very kind to contact Pentax Canada about the repair status; and they told him that a new guy was taking care of the camera. He's being supervised to make sure he would do a good job. The repair slip showed that a shutter problem has been fixed. Got 6 months warranty for it.
So far so good, no complaints, it's working again!!!
