Hello! Newbie here, wanting to get some opinios from you guys on which camera might serve me best. I am looking at the D40, C-3020 or the C-720. I would like to have someithing that is easy to use for my wife, and also will allow me to set manual settings (as I read more on this site and become a pro). Thanks for any time taken to help me out!!

"pro" meaning proficient... I've always had an interest in photography, but I don't have the time to commit at this point in my life to becoming a professional. Maybe someday!!
I do have some experience with a 35mm SLR....
Thanks for the replies!

Does pro mean proficient or professional? Do you have any camera
experience with a 35mm SLR?

raziael,

Can you expand upon what you intend to use it for the most, or what you aspire to from what you have seen here on this forum.

The more info you can offer in this regard will help the experts here to guide you to the selections that are most closley aligned with your intent.

Experts don't include me!

Just ramble if that is easiest.

The "FOLKS" will take it from there. I hope.

Hello John...

I hadn't really thought about what I would use this for the most, until you asked me that question. I think what I will use it most for is shooting people..... in alot of different situations most likely! What has promted me to get a new camera is the soon arrival of a new baby. I want to use the camera for that... as well as my stepson's football games. I can also see myself using it to shoot nature shots alot..... hehe..... not very decisive in what I want to shoot. I definatley want something that will allow me to grow into it. Meaning, as I learn more about digital photography, I want to be able to have a camera that will allow me to get the best shots by using manual settings. It's also important that I get something that my wife can turn on and take a picture with..... without me :-)
I hope that's enough rambleing!!!

Thanks again for all the help!

A friend of mine got the c40 and it is a great camera. However, one of her main priorities was it's size...she claims that it really is a "ladies" camera (whatever THAT means...) I do feel that the 3020 or the 720 will give you more of that SLR "feel" more than the c40. You might want to wait if you can to see what the 730 offers in the way of image quality. Seems like a nice camera.
