Staples Photo Supreme High-Gloss Paper

I have not tried it, but have been tempted to. I would also be interested to hear if anyone has tried this Staples paper in an Epson 3800.

My local Staples carries a few types and sizes of Epson paper. I have been very happy with the Epson Ultra Premium Matte that they sell. The price is great and the I like the look. I just wish I knew what could be expected for print life from papers not marketed as acid-free.

Never used it, but I order all my papers from Atlex.com for dirt cheap. Unless you have all of the equipment to profile the paper, it may be best to stick with papers that have a downloadable profile for your printer.

I used Staples 5x7 in R1800, no problems , great results for that size.

I have used it to great lengths, 4x6, 5x7, 8.5x11 and 13x19. I have a Canon pro9000 and Epson PM290 flash, wide format printer 7600. It works and I love the paper. My customers are happy with it too.

Hope this help

When I set Photoshop to softproof using my home built profiles it show the paper colour to be very blue - bluer that it looks to my eye under cheapo halogen floods.

I suspect it has brighteners but lately I haven't seen my UV light source to test it.

The paper looks nice; show moderate bronzing with heavy ink load, but I spray if needed with Premier spray and they look great. The Premier spray is very easy to you if you can find a place to spray away from the lacquer stink.

Any long time users see any yellowing? Colour shifs?

I guess I should send some for testing. I just got 80 sheets of 13x19 for $1 a sheet CDN delivered and I've printed up a load of images for personal use. I like is so far but wish I knew more.

Used Officemax 13x19 pro glossy paper made in Germany printed fantastic with 1400,
used same profile as Epson prem glossy photo paper.

I've used the Staples 13 x 19 size with my old HP B8350. I've printed both color and B&W with very good results, but I fudged and let the printer manage color. I used the printer setting for HP Premium Plus paper.

I have exactly the same question and would like to share my experience with this paper on Canon Pro 9000 MKII for the 13x19 paper (sku 564116)
beware that there are multiple versions of this paper with same SKU number.

The latest version is made in Germany (packaged in US), started in 2008. 80LB, thicker than Canon Pro. Almost no smell. Print as good as Canon Photo Paper Pro II if not better.

The version before 2008 was made in US, 72LB, smell bad, thiner than Canon Photo Paper Pro II. There's sligh color difference compare with Canon Pro II but hardly noticeable. Personally I don't like this version.

The only thing I can't test is the longevity of the print on this paper. If the longevity can match Canon Photo Paper Pro or Platnium, then I could claim this paper is superior than Canon's own paper.

Before someone jump out and point to the link from many many years ago bashing Staples brand paper, I can tell you the new Staples brand paper are clearly different now.

I personally suspect that the new papers are made by Ilford, but I can't find and proof.

forgot to mention that Staples run promotion almost every month for their 8.5x11 Matt paper for $1 after rebate. There are also multiple version of this paper. Starting from 2008, the new paper are made in Germany, thicker than Canon and Epson brand matt. Again I can't test the longevity on this Matt paper. For such price, I almost use it as regular printing paper.

I don't know if it matters but I use it with pigment ink.

Judging by the sticky feel when I wet it I am assuming it is has a swellable coating.

It is a mass market paper and I expect they'd want to make sure it worked with both dye and pigment. It seems to work just fine for me and I wish they had it in a lower sheen as well. Are recent swellable coatings known to be suitable for both pigment and dye?

I'm afraid to print anything to sell on it as it is unknown but with my Cone Colour ink and and 1400 it make an very nice and affordable (to me) print and because of that I've taken to printing a lot more, often just to try stuff out - different crops etc.

Any more comment would be appreciated - though I just bought 80 sheets so I guess I'll be using this for a while.

;-)

I also have a pro9000; haven't tried any Epson paper yet, but if they want satin I use Canon Pro Luster 13x19, and for gloss I use Office Max (of all things!) 13x19 Glossy Professional, and get great feedback on it. Also just got a pack of Red River Polar Pearl Metallic and like it. Was under the impression that it just absolutely popped off the page. Not quite that exciting, but gets ooohs and ahhhs when I'm printing anything reflective or metallic (lakes, cars etc.). Red River gets great reviews so my next gloss will be from them : )

revival of a thread after 5 years reported as DED dead. Is this a new record in this sub-forum?
