I have 10.6.2 on my imac and want to update my d300 with firmware that was released in fall 2008. Does anyone know if this will be possible or will it cause problems?

Thanks

It doesn't matter what operating system you use. All you need is a way to unzip a file, and that's built into OS X.

Download the firmware file, double-click it to uncompress it, put it on a memory card, put the card in the camera and do the actual updating there.

To do a firmware update on a D300, you copy the firmware update file to your CF card using a card reader. Then put the card into the camera and select the update firmware menu item on the camera. Your computer has no influence on the camera firmware update process.

As long as your card reader is supported, it will work.

What does you Mac OS version have to do with Camera and Firmware version? Look on Nikon website what they require to run the Firmware upgrade.

If the update process used an application, it might make a difference.
Look on Nikon website what they require to run the Firmware upgrade.
There's nothing to run. It's a zipped file that's unzipped and copied to a memory card. Nikon does list system requirements but it doesn't actually matter.

Seriously, if you don't have anything to add you don't have to make noise...this was one of the most pointless entries ever.

Just wanted to say I finally did the firmware update on my d300. It was so easy I now have no idea what I was so afraid of for so long.

Thanks again for everyone's input.
