Hi Guys

I've just been experimenting with the new layouts and customisation that zenfolio offers it's users. I'm preparing everything on a laptop, so would be interested to hear how things look on various monitors, as well as the speed, look and navigation on the site.

I think I've got the scheme and fonts set up how I'd like them!

It would be great if you could spare a few minutes to offer some c&c.

Thanks

My preference would be for thumbnails to be shown within each gallery, as opposed to having to run a slideshow to see additional images. With thumbnails, the viewer has the option of opening individual images or running a slideshow.

I've been trying to implement that wealth of new features too, guess it takes some time to make them work together in some agreeable way, and my own page is still "under construction".

Hope they will add some more features to complement the new ones. Something I miss is getting the slideshow link to the gallery of the specific picture you click, just as it does on the Zenfolio home page. At the moment it can just open the slideshow gallery.

Anyway, getting to your question ...

On your home page, I'm not sure I like the big empty spaces on top and bottom, as they make the rest look somewhat smaller, just a visual effect and highly personal of course.

All in all the site layout seems good to me, though the use of the home page slideshow could make it a bit less static, but again it's just me.

Perhaps what I feel missing is the "About" and/or the "Contact info" tab. Though I understand your wish to keep some privacy about yourself, I think that, curiosity apart, people might want to get in touch with you for any reason, so some contact info might be handy. At the very least you could have an email in the side text.

One small point I could add is that I like better the "index" layout like in your Dubai-> architecture than the one like in the Travels-> Hanoi for instance. Silly as it might seem, it took me a little while to realise that the latter had more than one photo... :)

After all, if you want your visitors to browse through all the pix one by one there's already the sideshow available, you can link to it if I'm not wrong.

Not sure this can help, but just my 2(euro)cent of course.

Btw, you have some good pictures there ...

All the best.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

That's officially some of the best constructive criticism I have seen on here in a long while!

I have an about section with e-mail address and contact details, but hid it as I only have a laptop to view on and there would be a lot of scrolling going on.

The one thing I am not liking is the fact that when running a slideshow on the front page it doesn't look right when mixing portrait, landscape and pano images.

I love the photo of the Burj al arab on your main page - what lens did you use for it?

Those pictures remind me how much I miss Dubai.
