Nice pics! Really nice series, but....how did you manage NOT to photograph the snow?? I hoped to see our capital in the white blanket, that has been here for more than a month. Thawing ice is sad scene to see (but nice ffect with the submerged boat!). The snow will return in a short while, so I hope you'll shoot more pics of A'dam then...I especially wonder how well the lens will do with snow on the ground at nighttime. I like the lights than!
The lens seems superb, again and is the next one on my list for my G1.

Thanks for posting.

Wow, great series! I didn't plan to, but I looked at them all.

It's very encouraging to see such good photos from the GF1. I got a G1 in December and have been thinking about bringing it when we go to Amsterdam(!) this spring, but 5D has had my love for almost two years now and it's a bit scary to leave it behind and rely on the smaller sensor in G1. :-) I think I will do it though. It'd be wonderful to only have the tiny G1 with 14-45 and 20/1.7 to carry.

Did not post on this forum for a long time, but I have to say; this is a very good serie. I live in this city in which I walk around a lot with my camera but I never take photographs like this, also because I don't walk the touristic routes so much.
But this gives a good impression how a visitor experiences this city.
Also I found your post processing very appropiate.
Congrats and thanks.

A wonderful series of images. Thank you for sharing them with us.

I love the quality of light in the winter, the lack of harsh shadows from direct sunlight affords one the opportunity get rich shadow detail and brilliant colors, where they can be found. Although the winter landscape can often be lacking in color, due to the dormant foliage, the city in winter can be wonderfully colorful. You've done a great job here.

I think you and I have a similar taste in subject matter, I'm fond of urban "found" images, colorful graffiti, the decay and atmosphere of the city. And those shiny, colorful bikes! Well done.

20mm pancake on G1, handheld, on the 31st of december ...before it started to bang all over the place with fire works and fire crackers

Thanks for your all for your friendly comments !

About the snow, I liked to do some pictures with more snow but this WE was rainy and the snow was already almost gone.

I previously always travelled with my Canon 40D and heavy L lenses. Moving to the GF1 and pancake was something strange, such a reborn in photography. Seeing the things with new fresh eyes.

Nice pictures, you have a good sense in choosing objects!

Did you use a special setting on the gf1 btw, concerning colour, i like some shots more because the colour is really to my liking. I wonder if it was postprocessed that way or in-camera setting.
Thx in advance, greets, Rob.

I shoot raw, raw only.

and when back on my computer I use Adobe LR 2.5 to process the files. One of my favorite development filter is boondogle, sightly tuned on my own preferences.

Sylkipix probably would be good, maybe the algorithm is as excellent as it gets.
But the Java™ graphical user interface absolutely kills me.

Adobe LR wins hands down. Cannot wait for the 3.x version.

I've looked all over the internet using google, but i couldnt find that boondogle filter.

Do you have a link for it or further information?

Greets, Rob.

Thanks for sharing your photos - they are so vibrant and sharp and I love your choices of colours in PP. Do you use an EVF on the GF1? Also, do you mostly use AF or MF?

I will be buying an m4/3 shortly for travelling and I hope i can learn to take photos as great as these :-)

Thanks for your comments about the pictures.

I don't use the EVF ... trying to get lighter since I left my Canon DSLR :)

About the focus, AF with centre point and re-composing after focusing.

I wish you many, many photos enjoying your travels :)

Unfortunately, I've only spent my Amsterdam time at the Schipol airport. :-) I so badly want to spend time there, and this gives me a sense of everyday life. Good sharpness and color on a lot of these.

Thanks for sharing!

Woooooaaa! Great stuff.

My favorite is the guy with the brolly riding his bike, but there is loads of good shots there. Thanks for posting.

fabulous work! I enjoyed your series very much. I have long wanted to visit Amsterdam. It's one of the places on my "Go to" list. Thanks for sharing!
