....with a cheery visit to the nearby cold, wet, miserable cemetery!

Responding to Dave's urging to get out and take some in the snow before it goes - only place vaguely interesting nearby is the graveyard down the road from work (I'm not some morbid weirdo, by the way!).

Kim's suggested P mode settings, in A-priority. Some curve tweaking and sharpening in PS.

Cheers - BT

Wonderful old cemeteries, what a paradise for me.

These are excellent, how marvelous to live within such a short distance of here.

I must say on the third shot is a bit spooky with the stratigic spots of red upon the tombstone........

Cool beans!

Way to make lemonade out of lemons. Nice to see folks commemorating someone by leaving flowers, be they real or artificial. This is a really interesting looking place.

What might be interesting is to take seasonal shots of the same scene: winter, spring, summer, fall. A scene that would show snow in winter, and a deciduous tree as it goes through the seasons might complement it well. In addition, I wonder if you'd see more flowers or such things left for loved ones in the warmer weather.

Thanks for posting.

Nice B/W treatment of the first 2 pics.

The little red flowers add a nice touch to the third. It is sad that most tombs have no flowers, at least no in cool winter time.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all - glad you liked.

The section of the cemetery I was shooting in was older graves, with dates no later than the 1980s, so I guess perhaps relatives have either stopped coming as regularly, or are maybe even occupying plots themselves elsewhere.

There are more recent graves in other sections of the site, which have more flowers and are clearly tended better - but I felt it was disrespectful to be taking photos of very recent burial sites.

Will probably return as the year progresses, as suggested, to see what changes. I've always been fascinated by the seasonal change in familiar places.

Cheers - BT
