µµµµ Sunday 'Scapes µµµµ

Wish I had a more interesting foreground for this one, but that's life in the civilized world on an empty Sunday afternoon. This was actually taken last month. I came down with an illness and haven't had the will to shoot in 2010 so far. :(

Mjøsa, the biggest lake in Norway is finally freezing over, after a long cold period w/ temperatures hovering between -20°C (-4°F) and -35°C (-31°F). The lake is 456m deep, and it takes some time to cool it down, so normally we read February before that happens, and due to climate warming it happens increasingly more rarely than before. Here's a couple from yesterday...

The sun itself is hidden in frost and mist, but its reflection on the still not frozen water comes through.

Another short winters day is already over, and the sun slowly sinks into frost and dusk over Mjøsa.

I hope you enjoy it!

Hi eea

With these temperatures it gets troublesome. I guess to power of the batteries fades away in no time. How do you prevent your equipement?

Oh, and I find the second picture outstanding! A good revard for that hard labour!

Thank you.

Cheers

Hi all

I very rarely get the opportunity to take landscapes so don't post in this thread often.

However last week I managed to take a lunchbreak and get out of town and onto the Ridgeway in Wiltshire here in the UK.

All images SD10 and Auto Chinon 28mm F2.8 (the E1 stayed in my bakcpack this time).

That's a nice rock but the colors look a little strange (it could be my monitor) I think it would be a beautiful rock with some levels adjustments.

That would have been a nice shot if the fence wasn't there, the colors and detail in the plant leaves are great.

Unfortunately for me, I still don't own an Oly DSLR yet. But I guess this is one of the few threads on this forum (no rules) that I can show my Kodak P&S photos. :)
From a couple of winters ago - here goes:

On Frozen Pond:

▼ Kodak Z612 ● AP ● ISO 80 ● EFL 90mm ● f/5.6 ● 1/250 ● EC -0.7

Frozen pond 2:

▼ AP ● ISO 80 ● EFL 42mm ● f/5.6 ● 1/80 ● EC +0.3

Ice crystals:

▼ AP ● ISO 80 ● EFL 42mm ● f/5.6 ● 1/60 ● EC -0.3

I saw this goose walking across the frozen pond towards the one corner that hadn’t turned to ice. I ran around to the other side and beat the goose there. The bird got within 12 inches of me, it must have been so hungry it took its’ chances getting that close. I few times I had to move my feet to keep my toes out of the picture!

▼ AP ● ISO 200 ● EFL 90mm ● f/5.0 ● 1/50 ● EC -0.7

'When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at
his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it.
Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two,
and I know it was not that blow that did it,
but all that had gone before.'
-- Jacob Riis (1849 - 1914)

Stay Well,

They look pretty good to me, the shadows are a little dark and you lost that detail but overall that's good for a P&S.
