Mode settings. On my model aeroplane transmitter I have flight modes on a 3 position switch so I have a choice of 3 difference set-ups, each set-up has roughly 20 settings pre-programmed to suit the kind of flying I want to do.

I'd like to be able to so the same with my D90. Go to My Menu and choose say 10 different set-ups
Portrait - with flash
Portrait - natural light
Action - outdoors
Action - indoors
Landscape
Macro - with flash
Macro - natural light
Etc

So instead of fiddling with 10 different settings on maybe 3 different menus I can choose one set-up.

A flock of seagulls suddenly started flying around outside my window. By the time I had set a few things they were almost gone. I had to set ISO, shutter speed, continuous shooting, 3D focusing, RAW, White balance.

Also I find when setting up for say Portrait with flash I may forget to set a few things.

Wow this post sank without a single reply so I guess it will not be happening anytime soon. I will have to resign myself to fiddling through 3 different menus with 12 different settings each time I change subject matter, instead of simply selecting a mode from My Menu.

It would be pretty well impossible for me to have a pre set setup for aperture, shutter speed and iso that worked for all situations. Those and white balance are the things I would normally change situation to situation with the chances of them being the same for any two being very remote.

My settings are
Mode=M
ISO=200
Aperature and Shutter= for the situation
WB=Auto
I shoot in RAW so I can adjust for my taste.

Ah do they? well it's something I would definitely like in the future. There are a number of pre-defined situations I work in that have very definite settings requirements, if I could have a choice of say 8 different modes with perhaps 8 different pre-set settings that would help a lot. Then you could select a mode and make minor adjustments if you wanted to but know that your basic settings were correct for that mode, like studio flash portraits manual shooting, or outdoors natural light bird photography etc.
