Anyone besides me think this is just a teaser and there are more new releases coming 10-7 for the show?
I think the 24-70 2.8 is correct - it will be released with IS soon.EF 24-70 f2.8L IS
I'd like to see those. But the 15-50 2.8 IS would probably be even more expensive than the 17-55 2.8 IS that it replaces. Maybe it will make it easier to get a deal on a 17-55. I would seriously consider a EF-S 35 mm.EF-S 35mmf1.4

I think a 60D announcement will come next. I don't forsee a 3D.1Ds

I think that there will be more... a new 1.4x teleconverter (if you call that something) as well as something more surprising and impressive...I think thats all.
WOW - This sounds too good to be true!EF-S 15-50f2.8 IS
It's only 2mm, but at the wide end, 2mm is a lot. It's the difference between 24mm and 28mm, which is significant. 5mm at the long end doesn't mean much.I don't think there would be much point to the EF-S 15-50mm f/2.8 IS as it is only 2mm wider than the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS and loses 5mm at the long end. Instead complement the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS with either an EF-S 17-70mm f/4 IS or an EF-S 15-70mm f/4 IS. A bit like the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L and the 24-105mm f/4L complement themselves on full frame.
I have little doubt there is more to come. There are currently lens rebates through 1/16/2010 for the following:
Qualifying Products:
EF 200mm f/2L IS USM
EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM
EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM
EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM
EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
The lenses I left on the list are either recently introduced or recently updated lenses, I seriously doubt that they'll be replaced anytime soon. (I mean "recently" in the context of lens introductions, by the way.) And the non IS versions of the 70-200s are just going away, I'd guess. So, eight of the lenses being rebated aren't being replaced, so I'm thinking the rebate list isn't a good indicator of what's coming...EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM
Why would they offer rebates... many of these are great selling lenses. I'd suspect they want to reduce inventory on these. I doubt these are all being updated but I suspect there will be significant changes soon. Pure speculation but the rebates seem to apply to a fairly select group of lenses. Granted, I can't explain why a few are on this list.
You can always crop that 10% on the tele end, but you can't uncrop the 15% wider to go to 15mm.I don't think there would be much point to the EF-S 15-50mm f/2.8 IS as it is only 2mm wider than the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS and loses 5mm at the long end. Instead complement the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS with either an EF-S 17-70mm f/4 IS or an EF-S 15-70mm f/4 IS. A bit like the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L and the 24-105mm f/4L complement themselves on full frame.
Just my thoughts.
