Anyone besides me think this is just a teaser and there are more new releases coming 10-7 for the show?

EF 24-70 f2.8L IS
EF 120-400 f4-5.6 L IS
EF 14-24f2.8L
EF 400f5.6L IS

EF-S 35mmf1.4
EF-S 15-50f2.8 IS

1Ds
3D

I think thats all.

Maybe an 15-105 2.8 IS with the same performance characteristics as the 17-55 2.8 IS - now that would be a real seller!

EF 24-70 f2.8L IS
I think the 24-70 2.8 is correct - it will be released with IS soon.
EF-S 35mmf1.4
EF-S 15-50f2.8 IS
I'd like to see those. But the 15-50 2.8 IS would probably be even more expensive than the 17-55 2.8 IS that it replaces. Maybe it will make it easier to get a deal on a 17-55. I would seriously consider a EF-S 35 mm.
I think a 60D announcement will come next. I don't forsee a 3D.
I think thats all.
I think that there will be more... a new 1.4x teleconverter (if you call that something) as well as something more surprising and impressive...

I don't think there would be much point to the EF-S 15-50mm f/2.8 IS as it is only 2mm wider than the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS and loses 5mm at the long end. Instead complement the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS with either an EF-S 17-70mm f/4 IS or an EF-S 15-70mm f/4 IS. A bit like the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L and the 24-105mm f/4L complement themselves on full frame.

Just my thoughts.

I have little doubt there is more to come. There are currently lens rebates through 1/16/2010 for the following:

Qualifying Products:
EF 200mm f/2L IS USM
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM
EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM
EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM
EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM
EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
EF 70-200mm f/4L USM
EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM

Why would they offer rebates... many of these are great selling lenses. I'd suspect they want to reduce inventory on these. I doubt these are all being updated but I suspect there will be significant changes soon. Pure speculation but the rebates seem to apply to a fairly select group of lenses. Granted, I can't explain why a few are on this list.

It's only 2mm, but at the wide end, 2mm is a lot. It's the difference between 24mm and 28mm, which is significant. 5mm at the long end doesn't mean much.

I am just torn. I just bought a 24-70 the last week in December. Used it for Christmas and liked, but didn't love it. 70mm was good, but 24-50 was soft. Did MA and 70 was great at +7, but made 24-50 even softer. That in addition to a 50% of 24mm shots were backfocusing by several feet. I sent it to Canon and is due back from them today. Not sure what, if anything was done to it. Seriously considering just returning it and waiting for the new one, just wish I knew for sure it was coming and knew how much more pizza it will be....

The lenses I left on the list are either recently introduced or recently updated lenses, I seriously doubt that they'll be replaced anytime soon. (I mean "recently" in the context of lens introductions, by the way.) And the non IS versions of the 70-200s are just going away, I'd guess. So, eight of the lenses being rebated aren't being replaced, so I'm thinking the rebate list isn't a good indicator of what's coming...

You can always crop that 10% on the tele end, but you can't uncrop the 15% wider to go to 15mm.

That said, I think there is no chance it is coming.
