Hi everyone,
I could not find an answer to this question anywhere, sorry if it is a repeat!

I recently bought the Canon 450 D battery grip. Is it ok for me to leave my batteries in the grip while attached to the camera at all times? and only take it out when i need to recharge. I know leaving batteries inside a camera for several weeks of non use is not a good thing, does this also apply to the batter grip? Does the grip keep using trace amounts of juice over an extended period of time when turned off?

Thank you!

Yes.

Yes. The precaution is against a battery leak causing damage. I think the risk is greater for extended periods measured in months, and not very much for several weeks. IMHO, YMMV.

Yes, but the minute drain is not enough to worry about.
Thank you!

It may lead to a small discharge but so would leving them in the tray. The amount is neglible so do not worry about it. As mentioned battery leakage is a concern though I've never experienced it in any digicam even ones left in a car that experienced temps below 0 F and over 140 F. Typical AA type batteries tend to corrode/leak and that may be a concern. But I've left AAs in my flashes for months with no corrosion so I would not worry about it. Even with cheapo China clones I leave them in and never have a problem. At worst they may leak and destroy the camera grip but I don't care. But I also use my camera almost daily so I check to see if there's any problems. If your camera is sitting for extended periods of time, like months then I would remove the batteries from the grip just to be safe.
