My partner is a long time Windows user, but is now ready for a new computer. I am urging him to switch to mac (as I have recently). My reasoning is that going from Win ME to Win 7 is a huge change, a whole 'new ballgame' and it won't be much more of an effort to go to Mac. Am I wrong? ( I don't want endless Pc vs Mac arguments. I already know the Mac is superior). Thanks

I would agree. I liken the change from ME to OSX like going from Stickshift to Auto and with more precise power. OSX is really closer to the future's OS. This is an excellent time to get up and running. On the Mac your friend will find that it's easier to remember where things are once they spend a little time behind the wheel.
So yes, you are right!

All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie.

Anyone who could make ME work for that many years deserves a stable OS for a change. I say definitely switch to the Mac OS. It will be a walk in the park and, realistically, since the OS is reliable, you have plenty of time to learn the ins and outs without frying your system in the process.

Somehow I got suckered into beta testing ME and started a lengthy project on it. I couldn't wait to complete it so I had time to remove ME and revert to Win'98. That one was a real woof. I think I ran it for fewer than 60 days, but it seemed like an eternity.
