I noticed up close that there are lines both vertical and horizontal in the lighter areas.

I am using Canon's glossy paper and the original carts that came with the printer.

Will the Photo pro paper or buying new cartridges resolve this. I don't expect perfection, but I used to use Walamart.com and after reading all the reviews I bought this one.
The reviews said that it rivals photo lab quality. What am I doing wrong?
I am also printing with Canon's photo Record.
Thanks in Adavance.

John,

I have a Canon S820 and print mainly on Epson Heavy Weight Matte paper. I cannot see any lines, but possibly your eyesight is better than mine.

One thing to try, if you haven't already done so, is to set the print quality to "best". The "Fine" print quality option in the driver does not give the best quality - to get this select "Custom", go into settings and push the slider to the right to the "1" position. Other people on this forum have eliminated banding problems by doing this.

Another obvious question - have you set the correct paper type in the driver?

I have never used Photo Record - I use Qimage or Easy Photo Print. If Easy Photo Print is not on your printer CD, you can download it from the Canon web site.

Hi there,

I used to use the Photo Record also until I used Easy Photo Print. Wow! What a huge difference. Photo Record images were a bit blurry and reddish. Easy Photo Print with Exif support was a huge leap in print improvement. Images are exactly as they appear digitally.

Download the new driver and Easy Photo from the Canon site. It is well worth it.

Thanks.

Thank all of you.
I did change to the #1 position. (Quality)
I did not even look at anything but the drivers on the CD. Got in a hurry.

Looked like I had the programs from the camera Cd, with the exception of , yes, Easy photo. Duhhhh. Sorry.
I will load it tonight and let you know.

Also ,I noticed my 4X6 prints looked great. I still had the box in the trash. Oh well, I man has to do...Dug through and found the 4X6 included with the printer is the Photo Pro.

The only paper I could find to purchase at the time was the Canon Glossy paper. So my 8 1/2 X 11's were not on the Pro.
Is there that much of a difference between the two?
Thanks again. I will report back tomorrow.

Changed quality settings
Also now exclusively use photo print.

Found excellent(no banding) even using Kodak high gloss that came with daughter's Lexmark.

Other than being a little colder than the Canon, it had no banding. So far the only banding was at #2 on quality and using Canon glossy paper.

Thanks for all your help. It really is fun experiementing like this as none of the misses are actually bad.
Must be a good quality printer to be able to use even the waste.
Can't believe how much Canon has made on me in the past 6 months.
Just kidding. Have beeen using Canon products since 1972 and never dissapointed.
Later. Thanks again for all you help and advice.

Still having the same problem.

Have done all the print head allignment and cleaning things, even tried doing a head allignment on photo paper, with no improvement. Updated the driver checked and changed all settings, resised the image, wich changed the size of the lines but no real improvement.

The image printed fine at my local kodak prossesing center.

Does any one have any other ideas please?.

Thanks
