I would like to find a small bag for the M9 with one lens mounted and another 3 or 4 stored. I am looking for something compact, easy to carry and that will protect the equipment well. Would anyone have a recommendation? Thanks!

Look at the link below, the Artisan/Artist messenger style camera bags seem to be the solution to me, very indiscreet, they make other ones as well as this, I will be ordering this one.

I use the crumpler 5 million dollar bag ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=5+million+dollar&N=0&InitialSearch=yes ) and use an optech double lens cap to stack two lenses without the need for lens pouches -- it completely stops them from damaging each other and the optech has a great rubber seal to keep rear glass elements clean ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/583446-REG/OP_TECH_USA_1101231_Double_Lens_Mount_Cap.html ).

That gets me three lenses -- one on camera and two stacked.

If I need two additional lenses, I use this bag ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/652808-REG/Lowepro_LP36124_0EU_Exchange_Messenger_Bag.html ) and then stack another two lenses using a second optech double lens cap. The lowepro bag has a little less padding and quite a bit more room, so things feel a bit loose inside, but it works well and looks great because it looks nothing like a camera bag.

I use a LowePro Slingshot 200 AW. It's probably a bit too big, as I've got all my Leica kit in it. That's 3 bodies and 3 lenses. But hey, it was a gift, so what can I say. I'd probaby go for a smaller one if I were buying.

I don't mean to offend, but if you are offended, then either I've overdone it, or, maybe you're too sensitive.

Jose-

I have used the Domke Satchel series 803 & 802 for years. An 803 with the optional 3 compartment insert will hold two M-6's each with a 50mm f/2 attached and the third compartment holds a 35 f/2 and 90 f/ 2.8 that are linked together. The pockets can hold 10 or 15 rolls of film.

The same bag will fit an M8 with an attached 35mm f/2 or 28mm f/2.8 and an attached lens hood, although a little tighter than the M-6. The two other insert compartments will hold additional lenses (again, you can link two together using that piece made by Leica) or a flash such as a Metz 54 will also fit in one of the compartments. Have a look at http://www.tiffen.com . The 802 is larger.

The Billingham Hadley series are also nice although more expensive than the Domke stateside.

should be ideal.

You can put two RF bodies with small mounted lens in the main compartment and then four lenses in the outer compartment. Bag is very compact esp considering how much it can hold. Also consider the glove leather version (same bag different material). It feels very nice and works very well.

Thanks, Gary. That bag looks just about ideal, exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate your inputs.

Another vote for this

I hate to think how many bags I've owned over the years (including numerous Billinghams) but this is the best I have ever used - so much so I bought another for my GF-1 outfit

Although I know that the A&A bags are well made, I find them a little boring. I'll put in another vote for a Crumpler 5 Million Dollar Home. I own 6 Crumpler Bags of varying sizes of which two are the 5 Million Dollar Home. These bags, to me, have a lot more style and are super functional as well.

They say that patience is a virtue. Unfortunately it is a virtue that I lack.

I've really been enjoying my bag from Leitz M Classics. I carry my laptop, M body with lens on, and another lens. I got mine on eBay for $75 U.S. in natural canvas color and light tanned leather.

Billingham Hardley small size ... just good old traditional hunting bag design and good for the field as well as the broad room ( if ever needed )

  • Franka -

Holds at the moment 2 M bodies, 3 lenses (1 on one body, 2 stacked with a double-sided lens cap), 4 rolls of film, cellphone, light meter, documents, money, a viewfinder, a bubble level, a few more bits and pieces. And, it's inconspicuous and it doesn't look much like a camera bag, is small, weather-proof, has a rain cover built in, it's pretty much perfect for street use.

Best,

Vieri

Thank you very much everyone, these are very good tips and I greatly appreciate them. I will try to check some of them out at local stores before I buy.

2d vote for that one. I have one too and love it. An additional advantage is that it also has non specialized spaces that can be used to carry the stuff you need when out for the day like a cap, small water bottle, rain jacket, sun glasses, etc. Slides under an aircraft seat with room left for your feet. Small enough to be the personal bag that is not counted as carry on luggage. Superb quality.
