Anyone used PhotoArtMaster?

I saw some posts several days ago about Buzz Pro and went to their website to check it out. At their website I was trying to decided between downloading the demo for the Buzz products and PhotoArtMaster and it seems that the latter may be more appropriate for my limited needs and talents. Or maybe Buzz lite....I don't think I want to invest that much money in Buzz Pro.

A few questions:

1. Does everyone who uses Buzz, use the Pro version?

2. Has anyone used PhotoArtMaster and did you like it?

3. What about one of the lesser Buzz products versus PhotoArtMaster?

I am looking for a program to use in "painting" some pictures to look like watercolor paintings. By the way, I use Photoshop Elements.

Thanks for any replys and suggestions.

Hi Judy:

If you haven't seen this comprehensive review at about.com, it might be worth a look:
http://graphicssoft.about.com/library/products/aafpr_photoartmaster1.htm

I believe PAM is limited in the types of files it can read and write (.jpg only, perhaps?). This may or may not be a showstopper.

Buzz is a plugin = you "should be able" to use it directly from PSE (like a filter). You didn't say if you're using PSE 1.0 or 2.0, but in any event I'd definitely confirm compatiblity prior to purchase if you go the Buzz route.

PAM is a stand alone application = Open PAM, do manipulation, close file, open file in PSE, manipulate it there, close, open PAM again, make further adjustments, etc. For some people this might be a hassle. (It would be for me.) Others would say, "Who cares?"

Though I purchased BuzzPro and use it quite often, I don't use all the functions that came with it. If I had to do it again and if I knew what I did now (based on use), I'd look at some of the other packing options.

HTH...

Hello

I've just brought PAM and love it.

The only problems it suffers from are a bad interface and memory problems. You get used to the bad interface but sometimes the memory problems drives me nuts. When you use the full size image option with a 2MB image file the computer can take ages to select or generate the 'effect'. (I'm using a PIII 933MHz with 512MB ram)

It's true that it only reads certain file types but that doesn't bother me. I normally do all the 'painting' in PAM then reopen the image in Photoshop to add textures, frames etc.

Apart from the memory problem it is a pretty amazing product

I suggest you download the trial version (and the trial version of buZZ) and play around with it. I didn't go for buZZ PRO because of the steep price and the lite versions seem a bit limited when compared to PAM.

Everything is right. I buy PhotoArtMaster and I received it after 3 days.

I like it. BuzzPro is more expensive and not to easy to use. After 2 hours working with PhotoArtMaster you can understand all principes and get nice results. For the results, this software is not expensive. I can recommend it.

You can see the result in the two last pages (5and 6) from:

Greetings to all.

Try their Buzz Pix....after looking at Pro & the other versions I found that they duplicated a lot of what I had in Corel Photopaint so I got the Pix version at a more reasonable price.

other than the tinylittlesmall window u have to work in I find it does the job (for me anyway)

Cheers

Wow! I love your pictures. And all of these were done with PAM?
I can't wait to try it out. I downloaded the demo version last
night for PAM and Buzz lite 2.0. Thanks.

Epiphane,

Thanks for the reply. I am actually trying to decide between Buzz Lite 2.0 and PAM. Do you think Buzz Pix 1.0 is more useful than Buxx Lite 2.0?
Does it have more the features that I would need?

This is terrific work! And after only a few hours?

What I did was take a look at what each version offered & what I had available in Corel photopaint. I saw that the version that cost more than PIX had features that were duplicated by what I already had.

I can't tell u what u'r likely to "need" as it depends on what u'r trying to accomplish. The selling point of Buzz is the Simplify commands. That's the whole point of the application & of that's what people use the program for. PIX has 3 of these. Occasionally I use the edges command, but that's also (at a slightly different interpretation) duplicated in most Paint programs.
