Thanks Pentax, it's been a fun and rewarding year of learning how to shoot with the K20D I purchased as a Christmas present for myself last year. Here are eight of the wall-hangers I've managed to get with this exceptional instrument.

DC 4th of July:

Great Blue breakfast:

Thunderbirds at Navy Pier:

White Pelicans:

Autumn mallards:

Gull wings:

Gulf Fritillary in the sun:

My personal favorite from this year: a Great White Egret. When I printed this shot, I added a caption that came from the last line of Cormack McCarthy's book, The Road, which seemed to capture the mood:

In the deep glens where they lived all things were older than man and they hummed of mystery.

They are all impressive, but the row of pelicans made me ROFL. I like your sense of balance and composition.

You make me want to get out there with my K20d and my new DA 55-300!

Absolutely wonderful set! What lens did you use if I may ask? Thank you for posting!

Beautiful images! I would be proud to hang any of these on my wall. Unfortunately, your post only makes my decision more difficult...I just sold my K10 with plans to get a K7 after Christmas. The only real disappointment I had with my K10 was the focus speed and accuracy in shooting sporting events, and such. Seeing the absolutely beautiful images the K20 produces makes me consider getting the K20 and a lens rather than just a K7 body. The focus of the K20, which is similar to the K10 from what I hear, is my only concern.
Nonetheless, these are indeed beautiful images!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Thanks for posting.
My favorite is the second- it looks like one of those "Never Give Up" cartoons.
The Heron seems almost surprised at the snake's tenacity.

You captured them all very well.........

As one who has tried capturing the Heron and Egret all fall I am very impressed with these two shots of yours.

How did you get the Egret shot? Were you in a boat or was it a small pond? I shoot from a kayak but don't have anything quite as nice as that one.
The reflection is outstanding!!!

Nice shots! Glad you've enjoyed your K20! I have certainly enjoyed mine--got mine in late January of this year (should've been early January, but UPS screwed it up by driving a forklift through the box and losing my 18-55mm lens in the process! lol!) Cindy

Eugene,

Thanks. The fireworks shot was taken with the DA 16-45, all others with the Bigma (Sigma 50-500).

I had a K10D for a year before getting the K20D. I've found the focus on the K20D to be faster and the AF-C mode to be more accurate than the K10D, in addition to the K20D's better performance at higher ISO. I would love to have a K7 with its higher frame rate and video, but since I just got the K20D a year ago, I can't justify the cost of getting a K7 right now. The K20D will have a long, productive life.

fantastic shots Ipammann, needless to say Pentax can do BIF and sports as demonstrated by many here, contrary to the few but vocal nay sayers.. Thanks for sharing.

cheers,

Rene

Excellent shots, and an especially great way to show how having photography as a hobby and owning a Pentax adds positively to our quality of life, and creates the very best of memories. I might follow you in this - I like the idea so much.
Happy holidays!
