Pentax K-x review is up

it's clear that in your review nikon and canon product gain higly recommended before the review...other brand must work harder and harder to gain highly recommended.

the supersonic absence in the cons is the same as the absence of inbody stabilization.

in addition for this calss of camera, the inbody stabilization must be considered a plus for an economic point of view...instead is better to say ineffective inbody in the cons.

i remember the just highly recommended of k10d for soft jpeg and than the d300 soft jpeg were a plus cause they gave user flexibility..and i can go on and on but stop here.
i like your review but it's clear there is a bias for some brands.
in this world consider the kx and nikon d5000 iis a bestiality
LOL what are you complaining about? The k-x beat out the d5000 in some ways but not in others. It garnered this websites highest award-highly recommended. Do you want them to also set up an idol made in the k-x's likeness and bow down to it??

I just wanted to point out that out of the last 7 reviewed Pentax camera's 6! got a highly recommended rated (although 2 with reservations). I think that is a pretty good score compared for instance with Sony.

That said I do want to point out, like others have done, that putting lack of a sonic motor of the kit LENS! in the cons list is quite inconsistent if you don't even point out of certain other brands that they don't have stabilization in the CAMERA! this is a camera review after all isn't it?

Current cam: K10D, TZ1
Wish cams: LX3 or lens stabilized compact micro 4/3.
Current lens: 18-55mm F3.5-5.6, 50mm F1.4, Sigma 105mm F2.8 macro

Wish lens: 17-90mm F3.2-4.5. A 70-300mm F3.2-4.5, usable quality with 1.4TC, 60mm F2 macro, 150mm F2.8 macro.

I've now corrected those too.

Unless I'm missing something, there's now a Mirror-lockup row with a red NO for the Pentax. The K-x does have Mirror-lockup and it's extremely easy to engage (unlike Olympus cameras for example, where MLU is seperate setting from the 2" timer) so this should be a green YES.

nikon d5000 higly recommended? pathetic...that's the point

the pentax kx is miles ahead in many aspect, iq in first place. why can u tell they are in the same ballpark about noise when it's clear that nikon is a painting at iso 3200 compared to the crispness and details of kx? that 's the point.
to find con they added

lack of silent wave
ineffective is...

that's a joke. if u have said in the past that inbod stabilization cannont be considered a plus u cannot consider the silent wave also and most of all u cannot write ineffective is. in the cons simple.

I'm pretty sure that comparing two cameras and man-beast love have very little in common...

Yeah i hadn't spotted that when editing this before publication - it's inconsistent with our other reviews so i've removed it.

And good luck for 2010 after a really good year 2009 with K7 Kx tandem.
Agreed. Nice job. Hopefully, Hoya/Pentax sees some big profits from them. Maybe then, I can drive down to my local camera shop and pick one up. K-8 perhaps, in a couple of years? ;)

I think a great and honest review of the KX....

Kudos to DPR and Hoya

that was my only complaint together with the fact nikon d5000 and kx was put on the same plane for high iso noise.
so i change my minds and comments:

sometimes u are just half biased towards canikon.

Sorry, this is a repost because I am afraid the first post is lost in the middle of a rant conversation:

Would it be possible to get the following information from the reviewer (maybe you know the answer already):
  • what lens/lenses were used for the various movie tests?
  • was there some kind of noise reduction applied to the videos?
I am especially impressed by samples 2 and 3, I definitely don't get this kind of results in "low light" (but it is difficult to know what was the light on the scene, so comparisons are close to worthless ...).

Thank you.

While I am inclined to agree with you on your observations on K-x vs D5000, I don't think this kind of wording will help the cause.

While I have minor quibbles about DPR's wording of the conclusion and points, they have provided a very thorough review which allows anyone to go through and compare the images directly and draw their own conclusions.

The unmitigated gaul of you guys to only give this camera a Highly Recommended rather than the Best In This Or Any Other Universe. And, you compounded this affront by actually failing to award 10s across the board. Don't you know that unless anything Pentax is given unconditional affirmation, the fanboys on this site will be up in arms. I have said it before and I will repeat: Pentax has never, I repeat never, manufactured anything that was in any way faulty or less than excellent. Just ask the usual suspects who post here here as a career.
