Pentax K-x review is up

the RAW comparison the K-x and Nikon D5000 are quite close in terms of both noise and detail (although the Pentax output is better by a small margin).

That's a joke if u look at the crop.....the kx is more than one stop better than nikon and more on other...te review should say the kx is by far the best apsc camera, not leading class, out ther..

in the cons they say..no kit lens with supersonic motor...that's a cons? so for the explanation they have given around in the last time also no inbody stabilization should be considered a cons.

Last this is the best camera in its class by a margin...but at the end people will end up being confused because the nikon d5000 has the same rating and it doesn't worth half the pentax kx.

please can u correct also this:

n the RAW comparison the K-x and Nikon D5000 are quite close in terms of both noise and detail (although the Pentax output is better by a small margin).

looking at the crop from raw or jpeg it's clear the kx trash away the nikon at iso 3200 and 6400, nikon has few details, kx has the same level of detail practically going from iso 200 to iso 3200...and in the pro please update also the first line...the best high iso performance of all the cropped camera without any doubt.
I've corrected that page (MLU is automatic when using the 2-sec self-timer).

My one and only disappointment with the K-X is the inefficient anti-shake, which was also highlighted in the review. I have been fortunate enough to try most systems IS feature, both in lens and in body and the K-X does not shine in this area. Other than that, it is a very impressive camera and it's size and weight means that I find myself carrying it around with a DA lens bolted on when I may not have taken out the 20D. Love the image quality and JPEG's are just great except when mixed lighting means I may also do a RAW shot.

I took advantage of the Amazon's pre-holiday sale of Pentax K-x white kit for $558 with an instant $50 rebate. I saw several posts on this forum when the sale was going on. The total came to less than $510 actually. What a value for a Pentax kit like this.

Kudos to Lars and DPReview team. Seldom users opinion and review conclusion match :P. I am glad that I bought this camera. I wish DPreview and Pentax and all forum members happy holidays and new year.

Almost perfect!

Too bad this review didn't make it in time for holiday shoppers!

and I'd have to say it deserves at least a point above the Nikon/Canon cameras in its class in build quality / handling.
Agree, I find it hard to work out how they do the number allocation sometimes.........

HAs anyone noted how gorgeous the sample pictures are? Really beautiful pics. Was the reviewer on vacation in some exotic place and emailed his review?

Really a great camera and a good job reviewing it!!

AF-speed is good but not quite as good as some of the competition who come with ultra-sonic AF lenses. While in the Canon and Nikon line-ups this technology has trickled down to the entry-level only higher priced Pentax lenses feature the company's SWD system. ?
"SWD" is Olympus' name for their ultrasonic lens drive. Pentax calls theirs "SDM", no?

Would it be possible to get the following information from the reviewer (maybe you know the answer already):
  • what lens/lenses were used for the various movie tests?
  • was there noise reduction applied to the videos?
I am especially impressed by samples 2 and 3, I definitely don't get this kind of results in "low light" (but it is difficult to know what was the light on the scene, so comparisons are close to worthless ...).

Thank you.

it's clear that in your review nikon and canon product gain higly recommended before the review...other brand must work harder and harder to gain highly recommended.

the supersonic absence in the cons is the same as the absence of inbody stabilization.

in addition for this calss of camera, the inbody stabilization must be considered a plus for an economic point of view...instead is better to say ineffective inbody in the cons.

i remember the just highly recommended of k10d for soft jpeg and than the d300 soft jpeg were a plus cause they gave user flexibility..and i can go on and on but stop here.
i like your review but it's clear there is a bias for some brands.
in this world consider the kx and nikon d5000 iis a bestiality
