Is there a way to fix Canon 24-105 vignetting in post-production?

I'm an Aperture user. Is there a way to fix the vignetting that occurs with the Canon 24-105 using Aperture or another software solution?

I'm also a Canon 5D Mark II user. Do cameras (like the 5D) correct for these sorts of things?

In PS CS3 open an image, then the vignetting correction is under:
Filter , Distort, Lens correction

In DPP it is not a strong an effect but select an image with a Canon Lens, but do not preview it. Select:
Tool, NR/Lens/ALO tab
next to Lens Abberation Correction select Tune
select Peripheral Illumination.

There is a feature on the 5D2 (I own the camera but don't engage the feature) that I think is called something like "peripheral lighting compensation" or similar that will "correct" for vignetting, but perhaps only using the Canon DPP software.

You can easily compensate for vignetting in many software post-processing applications. I know it is easy to do in Photoshop, but I don't use Aperture.

The vignetting on the 24-105 is usually not a problem, and when it is it is often the result of shooting wide open and at the 24mm focal length.

i used to use aperture 2, but i stop using it when i have 5d2, i am force to use DPP, it is just too useful to have vignetting, lens distortion and CA all easily removed from it.

DPP is no aperture.

but it is only choice now.

Hello,

I have a kind of program as you say, with vignetting on a 24-105 on 5DmkII, but much strange. Is only in 1 or two corners and only on 24 mm.

Am full size image of 1.6 Mb can be downloaded from

if you have any idea why is like this I appreciate it :)

Thank you,
Iulian

the 24-105 vignettes strongly on a full frame camera at 24mm, f4. You can see it in the viewfinder.

That was shot at f16. I don't think it is from the lens, but more likely from a filter or filter holder or non-standard hood.

I don't have a 24-105 (nor a full-frame DSLR) to see this for myself, but the vignetting in icozi's shot doesn't look like lens vignetting to me. It looks like stacked filters or maybe (because I don't see the same problem at the bottom of the frame) an incorrectly-fitted lens hood?

DXO Optics Pro works great on this lens, both on the distortion and on the vignetting. I recently upgraded to version 6 which loads much faster, handles hardware updates better, and does a great job on 5DII RAW photos at ISO 25,600.

Agreed that it may be an improperly seated lens hood. The vignetting line is relatively sharp and only on the upper corners.

Photoshop or Lightroom can.

Only a feew possibilities here that I can think of:

1. The subjects you are shooting mask the vignetting in the corners that don't seem to show it - in other words, it is there but you are not noticing it.

2. Your lens hood is not on straight - it is easy to not attach it all the way, and the result is that the (very fuzzy looking) "corners" on the hood intrude into the frame.

3. Something is out of adjustment on your lens. If you take off the hood and photograph a plain white subject and the vignetting is not even in the four corners you should send the lens in for adjustment.

I shoot my 24-105mm lens at 24mm all the time and have never experienced any significant vignetting at 24mm, even with a thin CP filter attached. Here's an example:
The vignetting is more related to aperture than FL in my experience. Try f/4 at 24mm and you'll see it.
