VAT & X-Drive

VAT is some kind of import tax? I am not very sure.

If you are from USA, why not order the same X-Drives from insidecomputer.com, who provides excellent service and much cheaper prices?

http://store.yahoo.com/insidecomputer/x.html

The best deal is $199.99 for $10GB X-Drive (even cheaper than installing your own drive)

Shipping is $15 to USA. $30 to other countries.
wondering if anyone knows what VAT is on the xdrive http://wwwsite .

items with VAT are more $$. looked on different pages but couldn't
see a definition. :/

Tessa, you must be wrong.

I just checked powerinnumbers, the price is $213. Why do you say $4 cheaper???

In addition, $213 is ONLY the est. price. If you consider the actual exchange rate, and shipping charge, it is higher.

For $ 4 cheaper you can get X-Drive 20 Gig, plus some Mystery prize
(anybody knows what is it - like must accessory for XD)

Hi Stanley,

This is how I calculated:

X-Drive approx: $ 213 plus shipping $ 20 - Total $ 233
From your calculation of the XD plus shipping - Total $ 229

The difference is $ 4

I am not the best in maths - but it was for 20 Gig Hard Drive, and maybe the exchange rate will bring bit higher - but there us Mystery prize looks like over $ 30 - from the home page.

Thanks Tessa,

I think you are talking about $30 shipping by insidecomputer.com to outside USA.

I am talking about $15 shipping to USA customers.

Anyways, it is good to see the overall prices for X-Drives are much lower than what were expected. This is about all about competition.

Tessa, do you own a X-Drive? If so, do you know the actual running time of the battery? Also, can the internal battery be replaced? I guess some folks worried about the replacement of battery.

From reading your posts in this forum over the last couple of weeks it would appear that you either are behind Inside computers or you work for them.
Am I right?

Hi Bob,

Inside computers is known to be doing this and has been cought in the past - but to be fair they are good business and honest people so we should at least aknowledge that.

The amount of fraud going on - on the net is not a joke and at least we all know here that inside computers will deliver - and that is very important.

So, few little things than and there should be forgiven if they don't keep at it all the time. Their site is very informative and they do work hard and spend lot of time on developing their business - which is very good thing.

Being Australian, of course I like to support Vasa, but one has to be fair to other businesses as well.

At the bottom of the page you linked to it says:-

The VAT (Value added Tax) rate is 17.5% as invoiced from the UK. We won't charge the VAT for countries outside the EU.

So if you are ordering from outside of Europe you would not pay the VAT but for a 20gb model this company would charge $348 where as powerinnumbers only charge $223. So there is quite a big difference. I live in the UK and would not hesitate to buy from Powerinnumbers, even if I had to pay VAT and import duty it would still work out cheaper.

If you check my posts, yes I do mention insidecomputer very often, just like the way Tessa supports Vasa. I just think they do have good business and very good prices and many choices for storage devices. Many customers have reported the same good stories on this board many times.

However, I also support Vasa, MyPCMax, MyDigitalDiscount, Amazon.com, whenever there are the best deals there. I believe that people on this forum should be informed with the best products and deals.

More importantly, I have been answering many tech questions on the board. Can anyone deny that?

I am an engineer and my full time job is java programming
