Maybe the macro magnification ratio was 1:2? Maybe the photos are displayed at twice life size? (Although that would still be a big damn bug!)

Regardless, they are fine pics of a scary bug.

they're certainly not half life size on the screen but if you were to print 1:1 they'd be... its really not a scary bug, very friendly, vegetarian and gentle

Nice detailed photos. That bug is really interesting looking. The face does look a bit like a bulldog as someone else mentioned. haha
